Fortunately for UNC-A students, many of the better eateries are located within a reason able distance from the campus, and this guide will perhaps help you find them. CHEAP (under $3) Athens Restaurant: Good breakfasts. Open from 7 a.m. til 10 p.m., closed Mondays. 641 Mer- rimon Ave., 254-5200. Dennis' Delicatessen: Deli-style sandwiches and occasion al Greek Specialities. Lunch and din ner, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., closed Sunday. 760 Merrimon Ave., 252-4653. Serves beer. Ike's International: Sandwiches, subs, pizza, and a se lected amount of Turkish foods. Serves beer. Open 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday through Thursday; open til 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. It's convenient location to campus has made it a popu- laf stpdent spot. 501 Merrimon’Ave., 252-1774. O'Henry's: Sandwiches, lunch specials, beer and wine in a funky turn of the century at mosphere. Open weekdays, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., weekends til 1 a.m.; kitchen cipses every night at 10 p.m. Closed Sunday. Live-entertainment many a night. Located downtown at 59 Hay wood St., 254-1891. See centerfold map. Stone Soup: Soup, salad and sandwiches. Mon day through Friday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dinner served Friday and Saturday between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Closed Sundays. Tiger's Subway: Sandwiches and subs, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wed nesday through Saturday, Tiger's reo pens from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., with enter tainment on those evenings. Down town at 76 Haywood St., 253-6600. MEDIUM (under$7) Bavarian Cellar: Sandwiches, German and Italian din ners. Beer, wine and cocktails. Open Monday through Saturday, serving from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Located at the Inns bruck Mall on Tunnel Rd. (Hgwy 70 East), 252-1454. The Fireplace: Steaks,*seafood (broiled or fried) and a small but superb salad bar. High Tea Cafe: Fresh salids, homemade soups and desserts; teafe and exotic coffees. Beer and wine served; outdoor seating. The Iron Gate: Alledgedly specializing in Italian food, this restaurant is a tomato tra vesty and a slur on the name of pasta. Beer and wine served. 2 S. Tunnel Rd. (74 East), 298-5773. Paradise Restaurant: Area's best Chinese restaurant, pri marily Cantonese cuisine. Trust your imagination and try some of the more exotic selections such as Breaded Chic ken in Black Bean Sauce. HIGH Jared's: Sandwiches at lunch only. Crepes and French cuisine. Beer, wine and cocktails. Pleasant bar with fine en tertainment in the evening. Reserva tions for dining suggested. Sand wiches at lunch only, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner menu changes every few days, with selections based on availa bility of fresh foods. Beer, wine and cocktails. Reservations suggested. Elegant bar with fine entertainment. Dinner served from 6 p.m. til 9:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday; lunch served Tuesday through Friday. Located downtown at 10 N. Market St., 252-4162.
