This student will be trappy to know that I have since taken art critic classes at a well known Art Critic school, and am now fully qualified as an art critic. So there. Mark West. Campus- Community Concert Band WHAT: The University of North Carolina at Asheville, alongjwith the Asheville City School System, is sponsoring the development of ;a new musical group to be called the Ca(npus-Community Con cert Band. Brass, woodwinds, and per cussion instruments comprise the musical group. ■ CONDUCTOR:: Patricia L. Garren, Director of-Music at South French Broad Junior High> will direct the group regularly. Guest conductors will be engaged from time to time for special performances. MEMBERSHIP:, Members of the UNC-A community (students, faculty, staff), residents of the greater Asheville area, talented students from city and county high schools (public and private), as well as persons from other colleges, are welcome to participate. QUALIFICATIONS: Eligibility for membership will be based on ability to perform on a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument. FEES: None. REHEARSALS: Monday evenings, 7-9 p.m. at South French Broad Junior High School, 197 South French Broad Ave., Ashe ville. FIRST MEETING: Monday, October 29, 1979, at South French Broad. This will be an organize tional meeting and a rehearsal. INSTRUMENTS: Members should bring their own instri^' ments if possible. Some instruments, ■ however, that are available through the group are: oboe, bassoon, french horn» baritone, tuba, bass clarinet, and per cussion equipment. MATERIALS: Music literature and music stands wil' be provided by the group. CONCERTS: The CCCB expects to provide music for concerts in Lipinsky Auditorium, UNC-A Commencements, outdoor cO^‘ certs on the UNC-A Mall, and for numerous other local events.
