15 February 28, 1980 15 "I don't think you should mix politics and athletics. But, / think we haven't done enough about what has happened in Afghanistan. / think there should be more done, but not through athletics. ” — Ricki Bell, UNC-A "I think it's fine. / don't see what all the quarrel is if the Russians are going to invade other countries, / don't see why we should go over there and do this for them. It's really a benefit to their country and I don't see why we should spend money or give them any kind of benefit for invading Afghani stan. Fifty other countries agree with us. It-'s just Americans that think otherwise." — Scott Keller, UNC-A The Rag and Bone Shop asked of the following people: "What do you think of mixing Politics and Olympics, vis- a-vis til is country's boycott of the Mos cow summer Olympics?" 'They ought to stop making such a big deal out of the Olympics, anyway. They are just a bunch of athletes. If they want to run around a gymnasium, or something like that, they can go run around a gymnasium." Mike Whitt— UNCA "No, / don't think they should boycott the summer Olympics. The athletes who are planning to go would be penalized." — Myra Sims, UNC-A SWfig into WITH DANSKIN’S NEWEST TERRY TOGS: OnlyAt A Cj^nCECV PLACE *A DIVISION OF THE BOOTERY The Most Complete Dance Shop in the Carolinas ONE LOCATION ONLY — DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE 253-1434 14 Patton Ave. VVe have layaway. "1 don't think it's really going to do any good, because i think the Russians are going to stay in Afghanistan, anyway. / think it's also a raw deal for the athletes — training for four years, and all of a sudden, they get nothing. / don't :hink it's a good idea." — Bob Koms, UNC-A "It goes both ways. If Russia has invaded a country — well Russia puts great emphasis on the Olympics and it would be quite a let-down if they did not get the Olympics. I think probably we should boycott them because the Russians are having the games and they are not in the spirit of the Olympic games. I don't believe I would golf I were in the games." — Craig Harroff UNC-A
