Arts & Features 9.28 20111 The Blue Banner October is breast cancer awareness mon th, and th^e are many local events benefitting organizations specializing in breast cancer research and outreach. Saturday Run the Runway at Asheville Airport The Asheville Regional Airport will host a 5K race on the runway, starting at 10 a.m. In addition to the race, there will be live music, food and activities for all ages. This event benefits Ladies Night Out, a nonprofit organization that helps provide breast cancer services to women. Highland Brewing Company’s “Pink Brew” Release Party Highland Brewing Company will release their specially crafted pink beer at the brewing company. For each glass sold, they will donate 50 cents to Beauty Through Can cer. The event starts at 4 p.m. and will include live music. Oet. S Pink in the Park Pink in the Park is a 5K walk to help raise money for Beauty Through Cancer. The walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Biltmore Park Town Square. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer This 5K walk is not about winning a race, but about building relationships and supporting the cause, accord ing to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. in Pack Square Park. Oet. 6 Oet. IT Paint the Town Pink This event will feature survivor stories, speakers and live music by Kat Williams. The event will kick off in Pack Square with survivor stories introduced by Mayor Terry Belamy at 5 p.m. The event will close with the formation of a human pink ribbon to honor cancer patients, survi vors and their loved ones. Paint the Town Pink is spon sored by Mission Health. Pink Yoga Every Thursday through Oct. 27 at 8:30 a.m.. Happy Body will host free “pink yoga” classes to breast cancer patients, survivors and their friends and supporters. Women's Health Expo This health fair offers many free health screenings, ac cording to event officials. This event will benefit the Asheville chapter of the American Cancer Society. The event will be in the parking lot in the River Ridge Busi ness Center from 4 - 7 p.m. Oet. IS BBQ and More for Breast Cancer Local restaurants including Luella’s, Urban Burrito and Okie Dokies Smokehouse will donate a portion of their proceeds throughout the day to Beauty Through Cancer.
