New Buildings Start Soon Most newspapers will give you at most a one-week review of the news, to let you know what you might have missed. For our first edition of The Paper we will do better than that. In case you were out of town, didn't read a newspaper, listen to a radio, watch TV or talk with anybody from UNC-A all summer, here's what's been going on at the university since last spring. The biggest news was Chancellor Highsmith's announcement on June 7 that the University of North Carolina's Board of Governors had approved construction of a new seven-story residence hall and adjoining student center at UNC-A. The project will cost $4.8 million and should take about two years to complete. Construction will probably not begin until sometime early next year. The residence hall will provide 150 double rooms for 300 students. The Theatre UNC-Asheville Theatre UNC-Asheville will hold auditions for AAoliere's comedy "School for Wives" on Wednesday, August 29 at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Carol Belk Theatre. Numerous roles for men and women are available, and no previous experience is necessary. Student Guide—1979-80 The "Student Guide" is here for those students who want a copy. You Call This News? This first issue of The Paper is burdened with heavy information for students beginning a new term. For that reason other news of conse quence (perhaps more entertaining) is given less space than we might wish. After we've gotten this all taken care of we will turn to other matters. Meantime, we certainly hope you will find it useful to save this printing for future reference about policies and schedules. N.C. Symphony The North Carolina Symphony will ’ appear in Asheville four times during the 1979-80 season. The first Concert will be September 12, 1979 in the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.
