Delphian Literary Society On October 21st,, the Delphians initiated their new members in a program which lasted from seven :n the morning until eleven in the evening. (See picture on page 5). The climax of-the day’s activities was the appearance of the club as a group at the Brevard-High Point football game. The new and old members were armed with buckets and sticks and supported the team with 'great volume and enthusiam. The new members will be honored with a party Saturday night. Folk Games Club At the regular meeting on Fri day night members of the Fplk Games club elected officers for the year. Glen Davis was re-elect ed as president of the club and Max McCracken and Mary Ellen Copeland were chosen as vice- president and secretary-treasurer, respectively. The number of stud ents interested in folk and square dancing has increased so much that arrangements have been made for the club to meet in the base ment of West Hall and for the people who wish to round dance on Friday nights to go to the West HaU living room. International Relations Club An interesting discussion on “Should the United States Form a Military Alliance with the Western Powers of Europe?” was held at the regular meeting of the Inter national Relations club last week. Jack Prince and Jim, Holmes made interesting reports on the prob lem and were followed by a forum discussion. The last few minutes of the meeting were taken up by short speeches in behalf of Hen ry Wallace by two members of tlie Progressive party who came over from the Asheville headquart ers. Modern Beauty Shop, MACFIE’S DRUG STORE Cliosophic Literary Society The Clios sponsored a hayride on the eveijing of October 23 and all who went enjoyed the outing a great deal. The forty people who went made the truck rather crowd ed but the roundabout route to Hendersonville and back, as well as the stop for hamburgers and coffee, was very pleasant. President Jim Underwood has announced-that the Clios will have their regular meetings at 8 p. m. on the second and fourth Monday nights of each month with Mr. Swink as faculty adviser. Euterpean Literary Society The Euterpeans had their ini tiations at the same time the Mnosnyneans held theirs and all members gave their whole-hearted support. Poet’s Corner By Doreen Pearson Christian Workers Club The Christian Workers club council had-a supper at White Pines in Pisgah Forest last Satur day night, and, after' returning to the college, made plans for relig ious activities on the campus for- some time to come, mainly for the Wednesday and Sunday vesper programs. Bailar Club Membership in the Bailar club has increased* to almost 75 students which is considerablylarger than last year. The club meets every Monday night at 7 o’clock and gives dancing lessons for an hour. The spirited group of newcom ers into the organization seemed to be enjoying the affair as much as did the old members and the spectators.
