He has oth er ideas. Sissy, we "wonder why your face always lights up when you get a letter with a Georgia post mark. Gosh, isa’t it hard to keep your mind on books with all the plans for homecoming flying- around? Have “Duke” and DeLapp de cided to give it another try? You can’t keep a good man down. Ask Jane and Jewel if that doesn’t apply to injured football players. Compared to the initiation of some of the boys, we think the girls looked pretty good. Mildred and Robbie sure did cut their romance off quick . . . . what happened? Vancourt has really been mak ing a showing at the dance ses sions these nights. Keep up the good work. Don’t look so sad, Marianne. Ilosea will probably be back again in a week or two. All Maxine wants now” is another Sunday like the last one. This year’s registration is slight ly higher than last year and the college has hopes of a fine year. Twenty states are represented along with five foreign countries, Brevard college and Mars Hill are ancient rivals on the football field and from reports from Mars Hill things will really be popping when the Tornadoes travel up for the annual game this Thanksgiv ing. Know Your Team 1 -i “BULL” TRAYNHAM Ernest “Bull” Traynham, that something over 200 pounds of bone- crushing tackle who is captain of the Brevard Tornadoes this year, comes to us from Greenville, S. C., where he played three years of high school football. He entered Brevard in the fall of 1946 in the pre-college division and wiU grad uate from the college department this February. With “Bull” on one side of the line and “Beef” Walker at the oth er tackle, the opposition thinks twice before running one over that position. “Bull” is taking a physical edu cation course and after leaving Brevard will continue this vocation .at the University of Florida. With three years of football with the Tornadoes behind him, he should be quite a help to the Gators. Besides finding an education here, at Brevard, “Bull” also found his wife, the former Miss Betty Wilkinson of Charlotte.' They were married in August of 1947 and make their home in the married vets apartments. “BEEF” WALKER Another valuabile member of the Tornado squad is Herman •‘Beef” Walker, a native of Dar lington, S. C. “Beef” fills the posi tion that “Bull” Tranyham does, only on the other side of the line. Weighing something over 200 pounds and standing about 5 feet seven inches, “Beef” teams up with “Bull” to thwart the opposi tion on off-tackle plays. “Beef” plans to graduate from Brevard next June and enter Fur man University to continue his course in physical education. While in high school in Darlington, “Beef” played three years on the local high school team. Last year he was named the Tornado’s most valuable player by Coach Andrews for his fine play. Walker was in every game and played many of them the entire game. Like “Bull”, “Beef” also found himself a wife at Brevard. They were married last year here in Brevard and make their hpme in the married vets unit. PLUMMER’S
