May 6, 1949 THE CLARION PAGE THREE College Chorus Singing At Several Churches -[ Above are members of the Brevard college chorus and director, Bruce A. Livengood, left, who will sing at the Dilworth Methodist church in Charlotte, on Sunday, May 15. The group presented a pro gram of sacred music at Haywood Street Methodist church in Asheville last Sunday, and were well received at their first public concert in Brevard on April 12. The group hopes to make a tour of other Western Carolina towns this month. Miss Frances Ur ban, national field secretary from Washington, was the main speak er. The meeting was presided over by Elizabeth Chappell, state president, of Flora MacDonald col lege. During the business session, a delegate from each of the 17 clubs represented gave a report of her club’s work for the past year. Betsy Bowman was elected vice president of the college clubs di vision for the coming year. The next workshop will be' held at Mars Hill college. A one-act play, not yet chosen, will replace “June Mad” and will be presented before ex aminations begin. CHRISTIAN WORKERS’ CLUB At their regular meeting, the Christian Workers’ club elected of ficers for the coming year. Those elected were Gladys Brewer, pres ident; Jo Rowe, vice president; Allen Henley, secretary-treasurer; . Ouida Dulin, in charge of Sunday night vespers; Nancy suttles and Bill Mewbom, in charge of Wed nesday night vespers; and Elaine Higdon, in charge of recreation. Retiring , president, Jim Under wood, stated that he hopes the club next year will be as active and cooperative as it has in the past. DRAMATICS CLUB Due to lack of time, according to Miss Smith, director of the COMMERCIAL CLUB On May 8, the Commercial club is having a picnic for members of the club and the cast of Mock Fac ulty which was presented last month. A picnic supper, costing about 50 cents in cafeteria cou pons, will be on hand and the out ing is being held at Sapphire Lake. Those interested in going should^ contact Rodney Taylor before Sat urday noon. PHI THETA KAPPA The Phi Theta Kappa will have a picnic on Sunday, May 15, during which time officers for the coming year will be elected. Definite plans for the outing have not yet been formulated. President Jim Under wood stated.
