Before the Christmas holidays, the club gathered at Gaither’s dur ing one of the regular meetings and there they had a banquet and entertainment from the campus. Mike Haddock and Ernest Gilstrap were featured in several of their popular arrangements of hill-billy songs. The banquet was open to all club members and their dates. This year’s farewell dance will be sponsored by the vets club. They also have tentative plans for other social activities throughout the year. Poet’s Corner By Doreen Pearson WHY? i PING-PONG TOURNAMENT For the past several weeks, one of the main topics of conversation on campus has been the ping-pong tournament which is being spon sored by the physical education department. There are tourna ments in progression for both boys and girls. In the finals, a winner must win two out of three games and see that his name is forwarded to the proper bracket in the list on the bulletin board. Much enthusiasm has been shown during these weeks of play. H'. "B I Church Calendar [ rii«iiiiHmttminiiinimiuiuiiiniiimniitimiiiiiiintiiffl EPISCOPAL CHURCH Morning services at 11 a. m. Why did I fall in love with you? It’s something I cannot explain. I. know not the reason and yet ev eryday I do it all over again. Why do I thrill at the sound of your voice And the sight of your smiling eyes? I wish that you would tell me— It’s something I can’t analyze.. Why do I feel so sad and hutt When you aren’t exactly kind? I can’t find the answer anywhere; It’s nowhere in my mind. Why should I be so depressed To know you are going away? And why do I pray with all my heart That we’ll meet again someday? W. Powell Hale (Continued From Page One) original selections. The program Wednesday night was sponsored by Miss Add Lea Morgan and the recreation class. ART STUDENT TO EXHIBIT THEIR WORK METHODIST CHURCH Morning services at 11 a. m. The art students of Brevard col lege are giving a public exhibit of their works Saturday and Sunday afternoons this week from 2 to 5 o’clock. Mrs. A. t. Bramlett, art instruc tor, cordially invites townspeople to attend the exhibit. Among the paintings will be oil, water color, pastels and some charcoal drawings. Craft work, including lamps, will also be dis played. No admission is charged to this exhibit. IF I BUT KNEW If I but knew what Fate has willed for me. If I but knew what fortune mine will be. If I could see the years that will proceed And know the kind of life that I shall lead, Would I be glad to meet the days beyond? Or would I lose desire to journey on? As I had bought a different brand of cod-liver oil, I told him that it was a bottle of sunshine for him. When I gave him some of it later, he said, “That might be sunshine in the bottle, but it’s cod-liver oil on the spoon.” If you don’t say anything you won’t be called upon to repeat it. 1 !
