Meeting Is Held
Staff Reported
“Brevard College should have
an earlier annual this year and a
better one,” Editor William Main-
ous told the newly selected staff
of the 1951 PERTELOTE at its
first meeting here Wednesday af
ternoon.
Present plans, as outlined by the
editor in consultation with his
staff, call for completion of the
greater mass of detail work by
December 25. Particularizing for
his subordinates their special re
sponsibilities, Manious stressed the
intensive effort each would have
to make if the December objective
were to be gained.
CO-OPERATION OF
STUDENTS URGENT
In an interview following the
meeting Mainous explained that
early completion of detail work
would give his staff time for de
signing and writing a better book.
He emphasized that whether an
accelerated program could be
carried through would depend up
on the early and continuous coop
eration of the student body.
“Students can give major as
sistance,” he remarked in illustra
tion, “by the smiple act of get
ting their pictures made on sche
dule.”
The editor cited also the snap
shot contest that is to be held
from November 1 through Novem
ber 30. Rules for the contest will
be issued later. The major re-
Quirement, however, will be that
the pictures have clear connection
with life on the Brevard College
campus. Editor Mainous recom
mended that to help the annual,
students anticipate the contest and
plan their entries now for early
submission.
■VARBROUGH ASKS SUPPORT
Business Manager Charles Yar
brough suggested that the gen
eral student body might help the
members of his staff by finding
and calling their attention to po
tential customers for advertising.
Yarbrough stated that the adver
tising campaign would begin on
November 1.
At Wednesday’s meeting the
PERTELOTE staff discussed ten
tative plans for changes in size,
design, and color intended to
strengthen the appeal of this
year’s annual.
Participating in the conference
with Yarbrough and Mainous, who
were elected by the student body
body last fall, were Miss Mar
jorie Craig, adviser, and the fol
lowing appointive members of the
Annual staff:
Betsy Bowman, associate editor;
Vivian Simmons, senior editor;
