An Open Letter to the Members of the Sophomore Class:
In a short time, you will graduate. On this important
occasion in your lives, we wish to give you our thanks for
the help you have given to us, the members of the freshman
class. You have helped to make us feel that we “belong”
at Brevard college; to those of us who were homesick dur
ing our first few months of college life you have made us
forget our longings for home and friends.
We wish to assure you that wherever you may go from
here—whether to work at some job or profession, to con
tinue studies, to walk down the aisle to the stains of Men
delssohn, or to serve on the battlefields in Korea—our best
wishes for your success and happiness are yours.
It won’t be the same next year without you, but we
know that opportunity is knocking and th?it it is time for
you to answer the door.
In deepest sincerity, we say to you only, “Good-bye.
We’ve been glad to know you, Friend.”—J. C.
ANOTHER APPROVING NOTE
Mealtime has brought a note of closer union and a type
of “familiness” here of late^ Food has been served family
style at the evening meal several times each week; and
buffet suppers halve been featured. Many thanks to Mrs.
Hopkins, the new college cafeteria dietitian, and her ex
pert staff!
A HOME RUN!
A home score was hit by the chapel committee here
through its recent presentation of the Rev. Walter Lee
Lanier, of Wadesboro, in a Family Life conferencev In gen
eral and private discussions Mr. Lanier brought to this
campus that sort of expert advice which is necessary—but
very often not at all available—^to college men and women.
