Page FOUR CLARION INNER-VIEWS 1 ! — Mr. and Miss Sophomore, Melvin McIntosh and Ai Allison and Mr. and Miss Freshman, Kay Goodman and Celia Sherrill are inter viewed for this month. “Al” Allison comes around the mountain from Old Port and adds a bit of zip to the atmosphere. She is majoring in home economics, which is one of the courses not of fered here, but that is just “de tails” to “Al.” Next year she will probably go to Woman’s college in Greensboro ’cause she is fairly sure that they offer home economics there. “AI” was elected president of the Future Homemakers of America for two years running. Her high school career is studded with outstanding scholastic achievements, but that is obvious to all who know her. As Miss Sophomore and our May Queen, “Al” is an excellent repre sentative of Brevard college. At present, chemistry takes a good deal of her time. She has nev er been a book worm, but if we do not watch out, we may lose her among the test tubes. Any discus sion on Spanish or the curve sys tem of grading will be enlivened by “AI’s” opinions, but her opinions of English lit she keeps to herself. The students of Brevard college COLLEGE BOOKSTORE have chosen Miss Annie Lou Alli son to represent them, but we know her as “Al” and it will 'be just “Al” who is our representative. Mr. Sophomore is Melvin McIn tosh. The honor is justly deserved as Melvin is one of those boys who can do everything and anytiiing if he has time, and when he doesn’t have time, he makes it. Whether it is the key to the book store, the Spanish record, or Glee dub info you are after, Melvin is the boy to see. He is fast on the basketoll court, quick to make the dean’s list and is a whiz at getting a ride home at every opportunity. Melvin has lived in a great many cities in his lifetime and that prob ably explains why he is never a stranger anywhere. His father trav els to New York very often and he says that he is going along one of these days . . . and New York has always been such a peaceful place. Melvin hopes to finish his prep aration for the ministry at Emory university in Georgia. We don’t think that he wDl have much trou ble wherever he goes, as he holds a distinction in English that is hard to beat. Ask him about it. Kay Goodman comes to Brevard from Statesville to take a general liberal arts course here. He has mu sical talent that may not ibe com mon knowledge to most of the stu dents here. In high school he was president of the band (he played clarinet and trumpet) and was vice president of the Glee club. He was .^Iso co-editor of the annual. In high school he copped three superlatives wliioh were Most Popular, Most Mu sical and The Biggest Flirt. coUege graduate, and that is a prac tical application of the maxim “First things first.” You don’t have to ask why Kay was elected as Mr. P'reshman, he is just a “natural.” Celia SherrHl is Miss Freshman. She is a voice majbr who is the pos sessor of a Superior Rating in a Charlotte district contest. She likes to do choral work in preference to solo. When she finishes college she wants to go into either glee club or choir work. Find something new and Celia is willing to try it, and while basket ball isn’t exactly something new, it is to Ceal. This Uttle girl who hasn’t played baskefiball before this year, is seen in almost every game. She wishes it clearly understood that it is girl’s rules you have to pass ■three times before you can shoot for the basket and that is why she doesn’t shoot at every opportunity. Ceal comes from MooresviUe and we are gjiad that their loss is our gain. She is as normal as fog in the morning, but as different as steak for dinner.
