fastidious in his bachelorhood, was
shocked to discover that his house
keeper had been using his bathtub
during his absence from the house.
“What distresses me most,” he
said, “is that you did it behind my
back.”

take experienced girls home.”
“But I’m not experienced.”
“You’re not home yet, either.”

She took my candy and my booEs,
She took that lustrous wrap of fur.
She took those gloves I bought for
her,
She took my words of love and care,
She took my flowers rich and rare.
She took my soft, beseeching smile.
She took my time for quite a while.
She took my kisses, maid so shy—
She took, I must confess, my eye,
She took whatever I could buy.

New Methodist Minister Here Gets
Official Welcome On Tuesday Night
Rev. Douglas Corriher, the new
minister of the First Methodist
church here, was officially welcom
ed to Brevard at the monthly meet
ing of the Men’s Fellowship club
Tuesday evening in the church din
ing room.
President Ralph Heller presided
over the dinner meeting and he
presented Mr. Corriher to the large
group of men attending. The new
pastor succeeds Rev. J. Julian
Holmes, who was transferred to
Newton after a successful four-
year pastorate here.
Mr. Corriher comes to Brevard
from Asheville, where he was pas
tor of the Haywood Street church
for the past four years. Prior to
that time he was at the Spencer
Memorial church in Charlotte for
four years and at Matthews and
Waxhaw.
A native of Columbia, S. C., the
Rev. Mr. Corriher moved to Char
lotte with his family when quite
young. He graduated from Central
high school there and in 1937 re
ceived his A. B. degree at Duke
university. From Duke he went to
Yale Divinity school for seminary
training, where he served as di
rector of youth work and the pas
tor’s assistant in the First Congr^
gational church. This required ah
extra year in seminary and in 1941
he received his B. D. degree.
