Mi-. LeRoy Erickson, Jr., has
been employed as director of public
relations at Brevard college. Mr.
Erickson, replaces Mr. John Evers-
man, who has been part-time direc
tor for the past two years.
Mr. Erickson is a native of Erie,
Pennsylvania. In 1952 he received
his B. S. degree, in advertising at
Kent State University. He was pro
motional copywriter for General
Electric company in Erie, Pennsyl
vania, in 1953. Last year he was
business manager and director of
religious education for the First
Methodist church of Erie, Pennsyl
vania. In the sunimer of 1952 Mr.
Erickson was station assistant at
Station WITU-TV in Erie. His hob

Miss Sara Ellen Froneberger has
been employed as a member of the
business education department for
next year. Miss Froneberger is a
native of Cherryville, N. C. Last
year she completed her require
ments for her Bachelor of Arts de
gree at Lenoir-Rhyne college.
Mr. George King of Coler, Ala
bama, will join the math depart
ment at Brevard college this fall.
Mr. King received his Bachelor of
Science degree in mathematics
from the University of Alabama.
Mr. King has completed the major
portion of his work for his Mas
ter’s degree.
Miss Elizabeth Roller, of Nash
ville, Tennessee, will be director of
physical education for women at
Brevard college. Miss Roller re
ceived her Bachelor of Science de
gree in physical education in 1948.

Mrs. Ella R. Gillenwater, of Ra
ven, Virginia, has been appointed
nurse and director of the student
work program at Brevard college
for next year, President Robert H.
Stamey announces. Mrs. Gillenwa
ter received her RN in 1930 at the
School of Nursing of Mattie Wil
liams hospital, Richmond, Virginia.
She has been nurse at Emory and
Henry college and at Ferrum jun
ior college. For the year 1952-1953
she was Roanoke county public
health nurse. 1953-1954 she was
engaged in private duty in Roa
noke, Virginia.
Mrs. Iona Berry, of Doddrfflge,
Ark., will become dean of wom
en. She holds the A. B. degree from
Louisiana State university and the
M. A. degree from Columbia uni
versity. She has also studied at the
University of Chicago and has done
further work on her Ph. D. degree
at Columbia in psychology guid
ance, and student personnel admin
istration. Mrs. Berry comes to Bre
vard with a valuable background of
experience, serving as director of
student welfare at New York Medi
cal college and Nursing School and
as dean of women at the Universi
ty of Alabama for four years before
becoming dean of women at Win-
tlirop college in Rock Hill, S. C. She
is a member of the American Asso
ciation of University Women, the
American Education Association,
and the National Association of the
Deans of Women.
