Sal aries have been increased until they compare favorably with those of many larger institutions. During this period of rapid growth many buildings have been removed, including old West Hall, the oldest dormitory on the cam pus, which served as one of the BY L. G. DEYTON As the Tornado baseballers worked to get in shape for the sea son opener at North Greenville jesterday, observers said that it looks like a great year for Brevard this season. In a scrimmage doubleheader with Western Carolina College, the boys looked most impressive in copping the honors in the first game. The game was highlighted by superb pitching and a three run homer hit by Harold Mask. Although things were a bit shaky in the fielding department, the boys couldn’t be stopped at the plate as they banged out hit after hit from the offerings of the oppo sition pitchers. The Tornadoes traveled to North Greenville yesterday to get the season started in a twin bill with the Mounties. Boys making the trip v/ere infielders Robinson, Cudd, Pearson, Ingle, and Dacus; outfielders Haas, Sims, Mask, and Blackburn; pitchers Wingo, Kim- bro, Stamey, Higgins, and Hall; and utility men Stanley Scruggs, Bob Ramsey, Gary Frick and Hen ry Wilson. If the hitting remains consistent and the fielding improves, as it 1 probably will, we can look for a . i,ood season for the Tornadoes this year.
