Given At College
The Brevard Little Theatre pre
sented “At War with the Army”, a
three-act comedy, on November
21-22 in the Campus Center audi
torium.
Included in the large cast was
Gail Bonnell, a Breivard college
sophomore. She portrayed the
“Marilyn Monroe” of the play, as
a theatre usherette who had all the
boys “goo-goo eyed” over her.
Behind the scenes, Jackie Rich
ards, also a Brevard sophomore,
was handling her job as assistant
director. She was responsible for
seeing that all characters were in
the proper place at the right time
during the play.
Also, Mr. Alex McFadden, of the
college English department, was in
charge of the sound and lighting for
the production. He was assisted by
Phillip Schoonmaker and Tommy
Gilbert.
The Brevard Civic orchestra also
made its season debut by present
ing a concert prior to the begin-
nmg of the play. The orchestra, now

On Thanksgiving
The Brevard College student
body was entertained at a Thanks
giving Banquet om Thursday even
ing, November 27. The meal was
prepared by the cafeteria staff
under the direction of Mrs. Buck
ner.
The Christian Council, co-ordin-
ator of all religious activities, plan
ned the program for the evening.
Marian Swann is the chairman of
the coiuncil.
President McLarty was the fea
tured speaker for the banquet. He
used an original painting to illus-
traite his remarks.
Many students have voiced the
hope that this can become an annu
al ievent.
Dinner Meeting
The Methodist men of the Ashe
ville District met for a dinner
meeting in the Brevard College caf
eteria on Friday evening, Novem
ber 21, at seven o’clock.
Dr. Fletcher Nelson of Morgan-
ton was the principal speaker. 0th-
thers taking part on the program
included President McLarty, who
welcomed -the guiests on behalf of
Brevard College, and the Reverend
Courtney Ross, host pastor.
Madrigal Singers
The Brevard College Madrigal
singers presented a program of
Thanksgiving music to miemibers of
the Asheville Kiwanis club at their
regular meeting on Friday, Novem
ber 2L
Louisville Meeting Planned
The sixty - third annual meeting
of the Southern Association of Col
leges and Secondary Schools will
be held in Louisville, Kentucky,
December 1-4.
President McLarty and Dean
P.ennett will attend the sessions
which are to be held an the Brown
Hotel.
The program will include, be
sides the general sessions, ^ the
meetings of many of the affiliated
groups of the association.
Paintings Displayed
Douglas Grant, of Asheville,
North 'Carolina has several paint
ings on display in the Campus Cen
ter building.
Mr. Grant is a well known fig
ure in and around Brevard. He is a
member of the American Water
Color Society. Mr. Grant has taught
several art classes in Brevard, and
his familiarity with this section
is evident in his paintings, many
of which depict -scenes from the
area around Brevard.
BSU Exhibit
For one week prior to the
Thanksgiving week-end,
erected by the college BSU w
shown in the window of the Campus
Center building.
The exhibit was centered around
a Thanksgiving motif, with, the
tlieme “Count your blessings, Name
them one by one.” Each article dis
played in the arrangement depict
ed some phase of the American cul
ture, such as o-ur Bible, schools,
churches, works of art, sports,
clothing, music, and other objects.
Mr. Stevenson Speaks
Professor J. J. Stevenson, head
of the history department, was the
featured speaker for the chapel
service on November 21.
He chose as the theme for his
address, “Study.” In his usual good
humor, Mr. Stevenson chided the
students over their failure to be
come acquainted with their closest
neighbor, study. His words, how
ever, were not without an encour-
aiging note.
Dr. Leete
On November 19, Dr. J. F. Leete
spoke to the students on his work
in the' Middle East. He interpreted
trends there as he saw them and
told of his impression of the vari
ous countries which he visited.

Forty Seven Voice
Group To Sing In
Schools, Churches
The forty-seven voice Brevard
College Glee club will leave Satur
day, December 6, for its annual
Christmas tour.
The group will travel by bus di
rectly to Asheboro for the night.
The next morning, they will sing
for two services at the Oentral
Methodist Church there, after
which they will proceed to Liberty
for an evening program.

for Monday morning, Diecember 8,
followed by an afternoon concert
at Thomasville High School and an
evening program at the First Meth
odist Church.
The Glee club will sing at Con
cord High School on Tuesday (morn
ing and at Albemarle High School
that afternoon. They will have a
service at C-oibum OVEemorial Ohufch
in -Salisbury that evening and will
remain in Salisibury for the night.
On Wednesday mO'ming, the
group wall igive a program at West
Mecklenburg High, followed in the
afternoon iby a concert at North
Mecklenbumg High School. After
singing at the Davidson Methodist
church that evening, the Glee club
will start home, arriving -back in
Brevard around 1 o’clock Thurs
day morning.
