As Brevard College votes—
so votes the nation! This was
the cry as the results of the
election held on the campus
were announced: Vice-presi-
dent Richard Nixon the win
ner over Senator John Kenr
nedy. For many, shouts; for
others, defeat.
The debate which preceed-
ed the election centered upon
a brilliant presentation by
Derwood Brown, and a radi
cal denuciation of Republican
policies by Sara Whitmire.
Mr. Brown demonstrated
the conservative air of the
Republican plan for medical
care for the aged.
Miss Whitmire failed in de
stroying all of Mr. Brown’s
argument but presented a
thorough denunciation of the
R e p u b 1 i can administration
and foreign policy, which Mr.
Brtown did not completely
refute.
The debate was presented
by the SGA imder the direc
tion of Mr. Frank Harvin.
