Women's Athletic Association Sends Delegates To Federation Convention The Women’s Athletic Asso ciation at Brerard College has Ijeen strengthened by the at tendance of a delegation to a conference of the North Carolina Athletic and Recreation Feder ation of College Women, at Wake Forest College in Winston- Salem, Joyce Clark, president of the WAA, Brenda Golden and Carol Padgett, accompanied by their advisor, Mrs. OVL. Thomas Cousins, gained much informa tion that will be applicable to the local groi^p at present and in the future. This is the first time this particular conference has had a representation from our school. It is hoped that this V'ill be an annual event in the program here at Brevard Col lege. Twenty-three other colleges and universities in the state were represented. At the general session a panel composed of members from Duke, Salem, Wake Forest, Elon, and Mars Hill, discussed “Intramurals — Means of Motivation and Values Gained.” This was followed by group discussions in three areas: Awards for the Intramural Pro gram, Recent Trends in the In tramural Program, and Tourna- nients for the Intramural Pro gram. A member of Brevard’s delegation was present in each gioup. While these discussions were in progress, Mrs. Cousins was meeting with the faculty sponsors planning for next year’s conference and for intercolleg iate activities. Play Days were planned for various districts. The western district will have Play Days at Mars Hill and iMontreat Colleges this spring. Plans are being made to participate in these events and Brevard hopes to be a host school next year. Women's Assembly Entertain At Fete The members of the Women’s Assembly of Brevard College were hostesses at a Christmas Buffet for the students, admin istration, faculty, and staff Sun day, December 4. As guests ar rived in the parlor of Jones Hall, they were presented to a re ceiving line composed of Dean Ruby Butterworth, Mrs. Alma Dellinger, and Women’s Assem bly officers Sandy Smith, Linda phillips, and Barbara Beverly. 'Committee chairmen for the event were Carol Matthews Nancy Jo McCullough, Linda phillips, Barbara Oliver, Shirley Barbee, Diane Wallace, and Bar bara Ballew, working under the steering committee of Barbara Pless, chairman, Linda Phillips, Vandalyn Brown, Marie Teele, and Sandy Smith. Danny Bost Elected To Lead Frosh The Freshman class met re cently for the purpose of elect ing class officers. Manuel Wort- man, SGA president, presided at the meeting. Danny Bost of Kannapolis, was elected president of the class with Jim Rhodes of Bre vard, named vice-president, and Sally Maynard of Winter Park, Florida, secretary-treasurer. Other officers elected were vice president, Jimmy Wilson of Greenville, South Carolina; sec retary and treasurer, Juanita McKee of Mill Springs; song leader, Barbara Cranford of Lake Lure; publicity chairman, John Goins of Kings Mountain; pianist, Verlene Owen from Bre vard; and program chairman, Charlotte Sentelle, also from Brevard. The Baptist Student Union is advised by Miss Bobbie Jean Nicholson. The group holds regular monthly meetings on the second Thursday evening of each month in Dunham Auditorium. “Wonderland by Night” wiB be the theme for the Christmas dance sponsored by the Eljler- pean and diosophic sociefiBS, Saturday evening, December in the Campus Center Auditor ium from 8 p.m. until midnight. Miss Alice Barnhill of Char lotte, will reign over the daiice as Christmas Queen. Her escort will be Max Walser of Lexing ton. Her court consists of Bar bara Ballew, sophomore attend ant from Marion, whose escort will be Doug Scott, Asheville, North Carolina. Freshman at tendant, Sally Maynard of Win ter Park, Florida, will be es corted by Craig Little, Pittstown, New Jersey. The Tiger Tones of Clemson College will furnish the mu^ for the_ dance. Christine Farnan, president of the Euterps, and Ed Brewer„ president of the dios, are ii» charge of general arrangements. They want to assure the Stii- dent body that this will be a beautiful and successful Christ mas dance for all to remember. The boy’s intramural foot ball season ended with the game between third Green and third Taylor, winding up as a tie between the two teams. This tie necessitated a playoff game, and the re sult was that Third Green won with a score of 8 to 7. Third Green has lost only one game this year, that to third Taylor by a margin of 43 to 0. Congratulations to Ruth Ulitchell and Carol Joyce, stu dent nurses, who received their R. N. degrees last month. Ruth took her exami nations in Raleigh; Carol had hers in Washington, D. C. The examinations lasted one-and- a-half days. Miss Dianne Nesbitt, Brevard College’s Home coming Queen, was one of the college’s two en tries in Brevard’s annual Christmas parade held December 1. Miss Nesbitt’s driver is Bob Acker man. Library books may be checked out or renewed for the holidays. All books not renewde must be returned to the library by December 13. The library will close for the Christmas holidays December 15, at 4:00 pjn.
