A total of 102 donors participated, as the quota of approximately seventy pints of blood was surpassed. Catalogue Is Now Ready The 1961-62 Brevard College Catalogue, edited by Mr. Alan Wallace, is now available to stu dents and faculty. A copy of the new catalogue can be found in the library. The new catalogue is arranged in such a manner as to eliminate any inconvenience which might confront a prospective student seeking to attain facts or points of interest concerning Brevard. The printing type has been en larged, and the spacing has been made more profound and decora tive for easier reading. On the back-side of the front cover appears a Correspondence Directory to aid prospective situ- dents in their quesitions concern ing Admissions and Scholarships, Academic Program, Student In- teref'ts, Business Matters, Alumni Affairs, and Administrative Af fairs. On the firsit page is given an accreditation of Brevard Col lege. On the second page I' found the Table of Contents which gives aids of locations concerning such items as an in vitation to prospective students, the college calendar, the Pro mise, Program, and Advantages of Brevard College and the Col lege Community, Admissions pro cedure, Academic requirements. Freshmen Lead Sophs In Battle For Top Honors Cleary, Hill, Chosen As New iMembers Of Cheering Squad The 1961-1962 Christmas Ball, sponsored jointly by the Clios and Euterps, will be presented next Saturday night, December 9, in the C.C.B. Auditorium, The BLUE NOTES, a l^piece orchestra from Clemson Collegev will furnish the music for the occasion. The high-light of the evening will be the crowning of the 1961-1962 Christmas Queen, will be chosen by the student body on December 6. Oscar Smith and Donnie Pr«- den, who are in charge of de corations for the dance, add that students may purchase souvenir pictures that will be made aft the dance. Men who do not possess as identification card from eiticr of the two societies on eampm must pay an admission fee of two dollars. However, this does not include out-of-town mem ■wfi» are guests of Brevard CoUcge women. The Freshman class rolled to an impressive victory over the Sophomore class in the battle of quality points. There were four freshmen on the Dean’s list com pared to three sophomores. Of the twenty-eight persons on the ■honor roll, sixteen were fresh men and twelve were sopho mores. Those on the Dean’s List are: Linda Jane Adams, Mrs. Patricia Holden, Carole Livings ton, Sara Moores, Doris Phillips, Charles Smith, and Nancy Ting. The girls outnumbered boys on the Honor Roll sixteen to twelve. Those on the Honor Roll are: Jane Beam, Diana Brackett, John Bradburn, Frank Caldwell, Charles Cort, Carolyn Dotson, Jack Duvall, Martha Gibbs, Ann Greene, Phyllis Greene, Betty Henline, Thomas Henson, Lee Ray Hoxit, and Elizabeth Jones. Jeanne Cleary of the freshman class is the newly elected B. C. cheerleader. She will be helping to cheer the basketball team on> to victory during the 1961-62 sea-1 son. I Another freshman, Sandy Hill, was chosen during the same elec tion to be the alternate yell- leader. Jeanne was born in North Wilksboro, N. C., but caims Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as her hometown. An honor graduate of Fort Lauderdale High, she was active in many school or ganizations. She was a member; of her year book staff. Senior i Honor Society, Pep Club, Science | Ciub, and Spanish Club. At Bre-! vard, she is secretary of the Euterps and a member of the Pertelote Staff, Masquers, and — Turn to Page Four j Christmas At Home Plans Underway The House Council has begun tentative plans on the annual Christmas at Home, which will be Sunday, December 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Jones Hall. Christmas at home is a major function given each year by the House Council for the student body, faculty and administra tion. Girls decorate their doors with a Christmas motif and gue-ts are invited to see them Sally Maynard and Mrs. Del linger have placed the following girls in charge of committees: Decorations, Kitty Whitworth, Sandy McNab, Judy Robinson, and Mary Ellen Henley; Food, Mary Bryson; and Invitations, Ruth Blalock and Linda Shef field. McLarty To Light Christmas Tree In December of the school term of 1958-59, the first light ing of the Brevard College Christmas tree was initiated. December 1, 1961, has bee» chosen to commemorate the tra ditional event this year. The tree will be placed at the front entrance of the Campus Center Building., The ceremonies win begin at 4:30 p. ]cn. and will be presided over by President Mc Larty. This tradition started a year after the President came to Bre vard College, this being the fourth year of, the ceiemony. Its purpose iis to give the stud ent body a little of the family life away from home. lost & FOUND: The recentionist in the C.C.B. has a formidable list of articles of clothing, books, umbrellas, raijnrnats, jackets, sweaters, jewelry, etc., that have been found on campus. Library Gets New Set Of Encyclopedias Mrs. Holder, Librarian, reports that the library now has a new set of Collier’s Encylopedia. The library also announces the arrival of a new book, given in memory of Mr. Harvin s mother, Mrs. W. H. Burney.
