PAGE FOUR THE CLARION DECEMBER 15, 1961 Tornado Talk meet^urTtornadoes B&aketball Statistics: After seven games, our Tornadoes have compiled an overall 6-1 record; the;r lone defeat coming at the hands of the highly- ranked Young Harris Lions. Leading the Brevard quint in scoring is 5’8” Joe Forte with a 16.6 scoring average. A fine 30 points performance in Monday nigh+’s game against Gardner Webb boosted Forte’s total. Wayne Huntley, with a 14.3 scoring average, is the team’s second leading scorer. “Poochie” Harris is Brevard’s only other player in double figures with a 10.7 scoring average. The Tornadoes are currently tied for fir.st place in the con ference with Wingate Jr. College, each having 3-0 records. ☆ ☆ ☆ Intramurals: The rules for this year’s Intramural Basketball season have been changed with two eigihteen minute halves replacing the four six-minute quarters of last year. This gives thirty-six minutes of playing time instead of twenty-four for last year. There will be an intennission of five minutes between halves and the clock will run continuously except for time-out periods and during the last three minutes of play. ☆ ☆ ☆ 1 /I u L;,3rt Wednesday an All-Star FootbaU game was played be tween the Taylor Hall All-Stars and The Green Hall All-Stars. Green edged the Taylor team 25 20. Green Hall All-Stars included the following; Bert Adams, Charlie Peake, Dave Carpenter, Perry Harper, Wayne Justice, Phil Berrier, Gene Holland, Mel Hunt, Gil Massey, Irvin Cohen, Garland Smith, George Dickson. , . „• i, Taylor Hall All-Stars consisted of the following: Moms Finoh, Bill Clary, Jay Currier, Doug Scott, Johnny Scott, Dan Bigger- staff, Richard Lane, Albert Surret, Gene Ballard, Gill Hofheimer, Rober Cumbee, Earnest Riddle, Creighton Alexander. Second^ First Floors jTomadoes Remain Unbeaten Win, WAA Basketball 11pj Conference Basketball Race The Women’s Athleitic Associa tion Intramural Basketball tour nament is well on its way. Third floor defeated Basement The Brevard College Torna-j does, after a fast start With wins over Louisburg and Chowan, opened their home season with a 90-55 rout of Anderson Jr. Col lege. The Tornadoes then traveled to Spartanburg Jr. College to take another big victory. Ann Morgan, close be hind, dropped in 12 points and Dianne Brackett added 9 points. AL'S DRIVE-IN COLLEGE HANGOUT Behind Winn - Dixie “Al” — Owner was their first conference game of the year. Brevard continued its win ning ways against conference foe Lees-McRae with a 76-59 victory. This gave the Tornadoes a win sitreak of five straight games. In a clash of two unbeaten teams, the Tornadoes fell to the nationally ranked Jr. Collep team, Young Harris of Georgia. The Young Harris Lions gave proof that they deserved their high national ranking by an im pressive 105-62 victory. The Tornadoes came roaring back to their winning ways with a 113-96 win over Gardner-Webh. This kept Brevard’s conference record unblemished at 3-0 and gave the Tornadoes a 6-1 record overall. mill I MltCltllll III!
