Earlieir in the week, Brevard maintained Sheir unbleanished conference mark of 4-0 defeat ing Spartanburg by a 93-64 score. Wayne Huntley led in scoring with 20 points. Joe Forte netted 14 to back up Humtk^’s perfor mance. On Tuesday nigiit, the Tor nadoes were stunn'ed in a 99-97 overtime defeat at the hands of North Greenville MO'Unties. This marked Brevard’s first confer ence defeat. Eugeno AUien show ed his potential by leading the scoring with 25 points, followed by Huntley with 24 and Joe For te with 20. Main It seems like recorrds of old are being broken by athletes throughout country nowadays. Brevard now sports a record- breaker in basketball. Foward Eugffliie Allen has broken the con secutive free throw record of 17 set by Gear Id Baker in 1958. Allen had pumped in 26 consecutive free throws before missing one in Monday night’s game with Asheville - Biltmore. He hae a 30 free tlirow record in total, which gives him a 93% av erage on free tlirows. January 4 through January 12 has been a big week for the basketball intramurals. Two games were played last Thursday finding second Taylor edging out Third Green by a 45-40 score, and Third Taylor walloping Sscond Green, 65-19. Then, on Jan- uar> 10, Third Green won a thriller from Basement Green by a 45-44 score, ’"ihe following night Second Green defeated firs. Tavlor by a 29-24 mark. In c>ne of the most exciting gamies played in years in the in- trart’iural program was last Wednesday night’s thriller between Basement Green and Third Green. Third Grersi barely slipped by Basement Green in an over-time game by 45-44 margin. For the winners, Monty Matlhc-ws netted 17 points; Gary Barney hit for a totrl of 14 points, and Dave Carpentpr sank 12. Bert Ad?ms led the losers with 19 points, and Jim Wilson and Gene Holland scored 9 and 8 points, respectively. In anothei- int(resting game, G^ne Glance led his Third Tay- lo>r teanunates to an overwhelming 65-19 score over the 2nd Green team as h; bagged 27 points. Jay Currier hit for 17 points along with Glance’s performance.
