Pool Opened
On January 4
The students of Brevard Col
lege were pleasantly surprised
when they returned to school
from the Christmas holidays.
The natatorium, which has been
under construction since early
last year, was opened for stud
ents’ use on January 4.
When the natatorium neared
completion, the builders found
that the length of the pool was
three quarters of an inch short.
One end of the pool had to be
chipped off to correct this er
ror. After this unexpected de
lay, the construction was final
ly completed.
The natatorium is 25 yards
long and 12% yards wdde. The
six lanes are each six feet wide.
The shallow end of the pool is
three and a half feet deep. This
slopes down to ten feet under
the two diving boards.
The pool is open Monday
through Friday from 3:00 to
5:00 and on Saturday from 1:00
10 4:00. During these hours Mr.
Tauscher or a member of his
life - guard staff will be on
duty. The pool is also open to
the public of Brevard for 35
