Mem bers of the team are Vince Dennium, Jerry Shore, John Bradburn, James Ruiz, Bill Burgin, and Bradly Hauser. Brevard Places 3rd Brevard College was host to the Western Carolina Junior Col lege Conference Tennis Tourna ments on May 6. Wingate Col lege, with 23 points emerged as the conference champs. Ander son College was second with 20 points and Brevard College tied with Gardner-Webb for third place with 13 points. Asheville- Biltmore was next with 5 points, followed by Lees McRae with 2 points. Representing the Brevard Tor nadoes in the tournament were John Bradburn, Jerry Shore, and Jim Ruiz. In the first round of the singles match, Bradburn de feated Humphrey of Asheville Biltmore College 6-1, 6-0; and Jarrell of Wingate 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 for a spot in the finals where he was beaten by Poore of Ander son College, 6-1, 6-3. Bradburn finished second in single play. Jerry Shore and Jim Ruiz de feated Wike and Goodman of Lees McRae 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Next Shore and Ruiz met Booth and Barrett of Wingate and were beaten 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, for a third place spot in the doubles play. POE PITCHES NINE TO WIN John Poe, Brevard College’s swift hurler, struck out 17 bat ters and permitted Gardner Webb only five hits as the Tor nadoes defeated the opposition 6-2. Leading Brevard in hits were Leahman Stanley with 3 for 5, a double and 2 singles, bringing in 3 runs for Brevard; Mike Brown, hitting 3 for 4; and Da vid Cort, 2 for 4. Wingate College has already captured the Western Carolina Junior College Conference base ball title with their last win over Gardner Webb. The race for second place, however, could stiU be highly debatable. At present, North Greenville is in second place with Gardner Webb and Brevard tied for third, but only one-half game ahead of Ander son. Clubs Announce (Continued from Page One) of the Euterpean Society were installed in a meeting in the Faculty Lounge. Sue Kearns will serve as President; Carol Willoughby is the new Vice- President. The present Secretary and Treasurer, Andy Mace and Beth Varda, will keep their of fices as they are returning next year. The Cliosophic Society, broth er fraternity of the Euterpean Organization, has elected Bo Tucker from Charlotte as Pres ident for next year. Also serving in leading positions wUl be Mike Starnes of Asheville as Vice - President; Bob Mabby from Marietta, Georgia, as Sec retary - Treasurer; and Mels Carbonell from Miami, Florida, as Chaplain. Nemos Make New Slate The Nemos recently elected their officers for next year: Margaret Harris from Black Mountain is the newly elected President; Margo Towles from Fincastle, Virginia, is Vice- President; Melba Blanton from Concord will be the Secretary, and Priscilla Dalway of Phoenix- ville, Pennsylvania, will serve as Treasurer. WF Names Foil John Foil from Raleigh, N. C., was elected President of the Westminster Fellowship at a meeting on May 5. Margaret Davidson from Marion, S. C., was elected Secretary, and Martha Kimzey of Brevard, Treasurer. The group planned a picnic for May 12 for all Presbyterian students on campus. Chemistry Club Selects Officers Alpha Beta Gamma, the hon orary chemistry society for students making an A or B in chemistry with an over-all C average on all work attempted, has elected a new slate of of ficers for next year. They are President, Mike Brown; Vice- President, Margaret Harris; Sec retary - Treasurer, Jane Martin; Program Chairmen, David Cort and Fred Miller. WAA Names All Stars The Women’s Athletic Associa tion has announced its slate of 1963 All-Star Basketball players who constitute another honorary team. Electees were Donna Swiger, Mary Lindley, Doris Simpson, Anne Elliott, Joyce West, Margaret Harris, Vicky Caldwell, Charlotte Keene, Pam Boone, Jane Adams, and Arlene Constantz. Winning three out of six at tempts, the honorary team com peted against Lees McRae and Anderson colleges and Brevard High School in regular season play. Brevard scored 86V2 points while Anderson picked up 23 and Lees McRae totaled 21V2 points. Mels Carbonell, of Brevard, was the high point man of the meet with 18 points.
