Since there are close races in both the American and the Na tional league, it is impossible to tell at this time which teams will be playing in the series. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiiMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii BEST OF THE BEST CREST Headquarters fOT School Supplies "You Name It, We’ve Got It” Brevard’s soccer team has be gun practice for its third sea son of play. Coach Tauscher started practices with 11 letter- men. But this fell to 9 returnees when Tom White and Charlie Koontz sustained leg injuries and were put on the disabled list. The front line is in good shape with 5 sophomores: Jim Wil liams, Bob Stallings, Richard Gardella, Frank Harmon, and Richard Green. These men will probably make up the Tornado’s best forward line in years. There are 3 sophomores at halfback to give the forwards support: Bob Tuck, Mike Gil lespie, and Charles Gilbert. In the last line of defense, the fullbacks, there are 3 returning sophomores: Bob Duckworth, Roger Owen, and Wes Howe. The most wide open spot on the team is goalie. Sophomore Jim Cabe and freshman Dave Ellerbe will be trying to fill the shoes of the infamous Joe Hum phries. Much depends upon the fresh men players on the squad. Steve Snyder, Jim Barnette, Bill Smith, Wade Ferrell, and Mario Guenther back up the forwards. Claude Garrett, David McPher son, Skeets Sturtivant, Chuck Connor, and Ben Wilson will help out in the defense. Jim Thomason and Geary Crist, two sophomores, who also joined the ! team this year, will see much service. Brevard, although losing 6-0 in a two'hour scrimmage against Belmont Abbey last Saturday, looks much better this year, and Coach Tauscher says the pro spects for a successful season are good. The opener for the team is at Warren Wilson next Saturday. The first home game is the Saturday of the Homecoming Weekend. The booters take on King College. Schedule. Oct. 10, Warren Wil son (A); 17, King College (H); 21, Pfeiffer College (H); 29 Ben Lippen School (H); Nov. 3, King College (A); 9, Appalachian State College (A); 14, Warren Wilson (H); 18, Furman Un.
