Sue Anderson was crowned queen of the spring court. Queen Sue Anderson was es corted by Walter Clayton. Her court consisted of sophomores Brenda Wyke, escorted by Bill Hyland, and Marion King, ac companied by Stan Hayes. The freshman representatives were .Melanie Beasley escort ed by Beaver Hall and Leia Elg, accompanied by Bill Yanavary. Fantastic Johnny C was the hit of the dance as he sung his recent hits. iEddie Holey was also a featured singer of the show. Both singers were backed up by a terrific Negro band. Helen Wright headed the decorations committee. The colorful displays of paper flow ers hung on trellises, placed around the auditorium, and the wishing well were only a part of the varied decorations. From the center of the ceiling hung a chandelier of flowers. The Spring Co\irt were seated in wrought iron chairs. ' The Spring Dance this year was said to have been a great success with one of thS best ■bands and sliows ever to be pre sented here. An alumni luncheon, in honor of the graduating sophomores, will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 1:00 P.M. Henry Clyde McDonald, class of ’45 will be the guest speaker. This luncheon is the oc casion for welcoming the graduates into the Alumni Association. Bubas, head bas ketball coach at Duke Univer sity, will be the featured speak er at the annual awards din ner for Brevard College ath letes Saturday night. Coach Bubas, one of the na tions outstanding leaders in the field of basketball and col legiate athletics, will arive in Brevard Saturday morning. In addition to speaking at Satur day evening’s banquet, he will confer with college officials in making final preparations for the Brevard College Sports Camp which he will direct July 7-August 3 on the college cam pus. Letter awards and special rec ognition will be given to all athletes who have lettered in varsity competition during the past school year. Special guests for the eve ning’s activity are expected to be Munsey Millaway, sportscas- ter for WLOS - TV in Asheville and Jim Philips, the area’s newest sports personality rep resenting WFBC television in Greenville. A freshman, Grey thus com pleted one hurdle in his bid for a berth on the U. S. Olympic track team. By fin ishing in the first six in the AAU meet he will earn a place on Olympics trails. Grey ran the 3,000 meter steeple chase in 8:59.6. Ralph Rawley of the Quantico Ma rines won the event in 8:43. In the four - year college di vision only one runner had a better time for the event. Placing second in the annual conference meet was Wingate with 60. Gardner - Webb and Lees - McRae rounded out the field with 39 and 29 respective ly- Five conference records were set diiring the 16 event meet. Brevard rolled up 12 firsts and swept the first three places in four events. Drew Baron and Roger Jones of Brevard scored two wins apiece.
