The Clarion Page 5 grevard 1978 — ^rave iVeii? Campus nose of us who will te returning to Brevard CoUege fall can look forward to L changes, both in class and o„the campus in general. T^ere ^ be the addition of at least eijht classes to the curriculum. We can expect a few new teachers, more international students, Resident Tutors in the dorms, and a new student government structure. Of the new classes being added to the curriculum, there will be two new English classes. One of these will deal with World Literature to 1500; the other, with Oral Communication. A course in the fundamentals of German grammar will also be offered. New Religion and Philosophy classes will be added, in the Social Studies area there will be a course of Selected Topics in the History of Russia as well as a new Psychology class. Also being added is an Acting Class that will explore different acting techniques. These new classes are designed to provide more options to students where required courses are concerned and to increase the number of electives. There probably will be new faculty in biology, math, English, and music, but the final decisions have not been made. Besides new teachers and new classes, Brevard will have its annual share of freshman students. Among these new Steve Gaul students will be about fifteen international students. Anyone interested in requesting an in ternational student as a room mate should speak with Dean Houk. One of the major changes at Brevard College will be the Resident Tutor program in the residence halls.. The Resident Tutor, who will have earned the M.A. in English or Math, will counsel the students, will provide a systematic program of tutoring in either English or Mathematics, and will encourage an environment suitable for creative living and learning in the residence hall. Returning students can also look forward to a new student government. The S.U.L. has been quite active this past year, concerning itself with student life on campus. One can expect to see even more concern for the students by the student govern ment next year since the new structure is built around the residence halls and the day student organization. These are just a few of the changes that will take place at Brevard College. All of these changes are definitely in favor of making Brevard College a better place in which to live and learn. One can only look forward with enthusiasm to returning to Brevard College this fall. a Deland Band Will Perform At Brevard Brevard, N.C. — The Division of Fine Arts of Brevard College has announced the coming ap pearance of the nationally famous Deland, Florida High School Band.
