Walter Pauk HOW TO STUDY IN COLLEGE Houghton Mifflin country coach, Norman Witek, the Brevard College cross country team will be setting its sights on a third consecutive undefeated season. With four sophomores who ran in last year’s national meet returning, and the recruiting of four fine freshman, Brevard has the combination for a successful team. Brevard will probably be led by sophomore Tim Black, who finished I7th at the National meet with All-American honors. Those sophomores with national experience are Greg Boyd, David Skiba and John Traynor. The other sophomores who will make the team stronger are Robert Costner, Charles Fisher, Dirk Redwine, Kent Schweikert and Joe Sherman. In addition to the great ex perience of the sophomores, Brevard will have a fine group of incoming freshmen. There are four freshmen who have an ex cellent chance at making the top seven. They are Todd Murphy, the state 2-A champion from Kentucky; Anthony Burke, the state 1-A champion from Georgia; John George, a 2nd place finisher from Page High School in North Carolina; and Jeff Wentworth, an 8th place finisher from Florida. In addition to their fine athletic ability, these four men also average around a 3.5 academic high school average. Freshmen Robin Kirby, John Little and Greg Walker should also strengthen the overall team. This year’s team has the combination of a good front runner, sophomore experience, and a fine group of talented freshman, which should produce another successful season.
