On Feb. 13 the Renegades played the Univ. of Tennessee Volunteers nationally ranked “A” side. All things con sidered, the Renegades made a very respectable showing despite the 35-0 final score. The Volunteers were very helpful in showing the Renegades various techniques to improve on. The Renegades obviously learned a lot, and the 9-6 close loss against the Clemson Tigers Rugby Football Club on Feb. 21 showed it. The Brevard 15 played a very close match, and had various opportunities to win. For the 2nd match of the season the Renegades have come a long way, and expectations from the players are certainly high now. Although on the field ruggers are a wild, mean, hard-hitting, blood thirsty bunch, off the field after matches, ruggers are a hap py, festive, joyous bunch of guys. This is very well illustrated at the Rugby Parties following most all matches. At these festivities, rug gers just like to sing happy songs. admire the beautiful women around and drink large quan tities of beverage. On a personal note, I’d like to thank many individuals for help ing this club become a reality. President Martinson, Dean Scar borough, and Steve Wilson have helped in many ways; and I and each of the players thank you very much! Also, many, many in dividuals of the student body have been at our matches, and have given us valuable verbal campus support. Thanks to each of you, and believe us, it helps. We anticipate seeing you all at our 1st home match March 6th against Johnson City.
