Write For the Clarion Next Fall! The CLARION wants you! As a result of the upcoming sophomore graduation, the CLARION staff will dwindle down to a small number. It becomes necessary, therefore, that the paper recruit some prospective 1982-’83 staffers. Who do we need for next year? Anybody who likes to write and get satisfaction from seeing a good article in print. And you don’t have to be a “nosey-newsy” person to become a part of the CLARION. If music is your thing, why not write some album and concert reveiws? By writing these you’ll be able to express what you think is gold, or gunk, in today’s rock. If you are a sports fanatic and want to do more for the Tornadoes than scream at sporting events, let out some more steam by covering sporting events for the CLARION; by doing so you’ll become more involved with Tornado action. Or if you feel the need to criticize something (good or bad) about BC, or the country-or the world for that matter--why not become an editorial writer? The editorial page of the CLARION provides a great oppor- unity for one to expose his opinion to a lot of students, teachers, and administrators (as well as anybody else who picks up a copy of this paper). What the CLARION wants is some enthusiastic students who take their writing seriously and wish to get more satisfaction out of it. By becoming a member, a student will benefit not only by improving his writing, le’ll learn a thing or two about journalism, and, provid ed he makes a good contribution to the paper, pick up one-half hour’s credit for English each semester. Improve your writing, meet some new people, learn some things, pick up some credits-become a part of a college publication-by doing so you’ll help yourself (membership on a college newspaper looks good and adds to a resume when it comes time for applying to four-year institutions) and contribute to Brevard Col lege. The CLARION is wide-open to suggestions. Interested in becoming a part of next year’s staff? Contact either Mr. Ken Chamlee (130 McClarty-Goodson) or Jon Zillioux (campus box 080). by Chris Burchall 'The men’s track team did not fare as well as anticipated. This according to coach Norm Witek was due to the inclement which the team faced at several meets. The weather ranged from thunderstorms to cold and wind “This resulted in limited place ment in the national rankings” says coach Witek. Brevard, however, has two athletes who are National Junior College champions. These are John Delaney in the 5000 meter run and Andy Latimer in the tri ple jump. Coach Witek went on to say that there are several other athletes who have a chance at be ing nationally ranked. These are Willie Holeman in long jump, Gordon Sneadon in the 5000 meter run, and Gerald Hutchinson in the 10,000 meter run. The Brevard track team won their last meet which was against Carson-Newman College and Furman University. The scores were Brevard 67, Carson 64, and Furman 62. The outlook for the Brevard track team next year is op timistic says coach Witek. Ap- proximaiely 80% of the current track members will be returning next year.
