Charles Sherrill Karen Outstanding BC sophomores named to Who s DeLucia, Rebecca Tapper, Teresa Paxton. s Many activities set for Parents Weekend Parents of Brevard College students will have an opportunity to get a taste of col lege life during the annual Parents’ Weekend, Nov. 6-8. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, the three-day event starts off Friday when parents are invited to attend classes with their son or daughter. Residence Halls will have open house dur ing the lunch hour. That afternoon the women’s soccer team plays in the Region X tournament on the soccer field here. Fri day night, parents may attend a theatrical production of the comedy, “The Foreigner,” in the Barn Theatre. President Billy Greer will welcome the parents at a special 8 a.m. breakfast in the A.G. Myers Dining Hall Saturday morn ing, followed by coffee and conversation with faculty and administration. From 10:30 to noon, faculty will be in their offices to talk with parents. The Brevard College nominating com mittee and the sophomore student body have selected 12 sophomores for the im edition of Who’s Who Among Students In American Junior Colleges. These students are as follows; Celia Alves of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a student marshal, on the Clarion staff, the Phi Theta Kappa vice-president, a member of Christian Student Fellowship, and a day student. Tom DeLucia of Cocoa Beach, Fla., is a Sims Scholar, was on the Honor Roll fall of ’86 and Dean’s List spring of ’87, is an RA, the SGA vice-president of Green Hall, on the Judicial Board, on the basketball team, and a student tutor. Jessica Graham of Jonesboro, Ga., is a student marshal, the treasurer for PTK, was on the Dean’s List fall of ’86 and spring of ’87, is a Sims Scholar, on a music scholarship, holds the principal chair and is band assistant in Concert Band, and is a student tutor. Lisa Handelman of Oxford, N.C., is a student marshal, a Beam Scholar, the campus secretary for PTK, was on the Dean’s List fall of ’86 and spring of ’87, is a student tutor, and a student ambassador. Kim Norman of Stuart, Fla., is an RA, in the Concert Band, and was on the Honor Roll fall of ’86 and spring of ’87. BiSr Orrell of Wilmington, N.C., is an RA, the editor of the Clarion, was on the Honor Roll fall of ’86 and spring of ’87, was the editor of the Chiaroscuro in ’86-’87, and is a student ambassador. Teresa Paxton of Canton, N.C., is the An nabel Lambeth Jones Scholar, a math tutor, a student marshal, the cor respondence secretary for the PTK, was on the Dean’s List fall of ’86 and spring of ’87, and is a member of CSF Robert Rice of Orlando, Fla., is an RA, the men’s soccer manager, and was on the Honor Roll spring of ’87. Charles F. Sherrill of Raleigh, N.C., is an RA, a Sims Scholar, a student tutor, a member of PTK, and was on the Dean’s List fall of ’86. Karen Strickland of Mableton, Ga., is a student marshal, a Sims Scholar, a member of PTK, was on the Dean’s List fall of ’86 and spring of ’87, is the Inreach and Care Group Leader for CSF, is on music scholarship, in Concert Band, and is a student tutor. Becky Tapper of Hudson, N.C., is a Freshman Scholar, a Duke Scholar, a stu dent tutor, was on the Dean’s List fall of 86 and the Honor Roll spring of '87, and won the American Literary Award. April Woods of Eatontown, N.J., is » Sims Scholar, a student tutor, a member of CSF, was on the Dean’s List spring of 87, and is the editorial page editor for the Clarion. These sophomores join an elite group of students selected from more than 1,400 in stitutions of higher learning. They were chosen for their outstanding campus leadership, academic achievement, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
