Commuters pull off upset in day of fun
Derby Day kicked off the semester with a full slate of
competitions between dorms; the Commuters took home
the top honors. Events included the Tug o’ War (top left)
and the Hair Scultping contest (bottom left). Almost
everyone was attacked with shaving cream after the Hair
Sculpting event.

BC music students to
present “The Fantasticks”

Brevard College will open the
1994-95 “Poets and Writers at Brevard”
series with author Ruth Moose on
Thursday, Oct. 20, on the Brevard
College campus. The program, which is
free of charge and open to the public,
will be held in the McLarty-Goodson
Building Room 118 beginning at 7:30
p.m.
Moose, who lives in Albemarle,
N.C., serves as reference librarian at
Pfeiffer College and maintains a busy
schedule reading from her works in
North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas
and Tennessee. She is the author of two
collections of short stories, “The Wreath
Ribbon Quilt” and “Dreaming in
Color,” both published by August
House. Individual stories from the.se
collections have appeared in “Redbook,”
“Ladies Home Journal” and “Atlantic.”
Her works are used by the University of
Denmark in Southern literature courses,
and she is the recipient of a North
Carolina Writers Fellowship. She has
also been awarded three PEN awards.

Keep your calenders tree on the days
of Oct. 26 through Oct. 29 and Nov. 2
through Nov. 4, because “The
Fantasticks” is coming to Brevard
College.
The Fantasticks” is a musical
comedy directed by Bob White with an
all-star cast of eight talented Brevard
College music students. The production
is being brought to life at the Barn
Theater at 8 p.m. Faculty, staff, and
students will be admitted with an ID
card at no charge. All others will be
charged $5.
Director Bob White says that this
will be “the best show seen in years.’
