Men’s Soccer Looking Great
Stacy Luckie
Sports Editor
With a 6-4-1 record, the men’s
soccer team is looking great. Although
the team has had four loses, scores have
been close, and the contests have been
against top teams.
The team is led by their sophomore
player. Captain Ryan Tudhupe is hav
ing a strong year on defense at man-
marker. He is followed closely by Dave
Harrison at midfeilder and Peter Reiser
at sweeperback. Goalie Glad Bugariu is
also having a good year in keeping the
opposition from scoring. Sophomore
George Hanyak, who is a regular mid
fielder, is doing an excellent job at
markingback. Bubba Halls and Steven
Rolsman are adding some vital play at
midfield as well.
The most pleasant surprise for
coach Schaffer is his freshman class. He
said," Right now they are adjusting, but
they are gelling very well with the
sophomores."
There is no game that we were not
capable of winning! We have one of
the strongest teams in the South East,
and we have an excellent chance at
winning the region," aid coach Schaf
fer.

Women’s Soccer Ranked 4th In The Nation
Stacy Luckie

The Lady’s soccer team is off to a
great start. With a 5-2-1 record the
ladies are currently ranked fourth in
the nation, and they only look to im
prove.
The ladies are lead by their great
defense. Sophomores Michelle Joyce
and Tammy Morris spark a defense that
is very stingy when it comes to points.
Michelle is doing a great job at goalie,
and she is currently ranked fifth in the
nation. Sophomore Tammy Morris is
also having a great year. Eventhough
she is one of the shortest players on the
field, she still finds a way to play
manmarker. The manmarker guards the
quickest or the best player on the
opposing team.
While the defense has done a great
job in keeping the opposition from
scoring, the offense is putting the points
on the board. Lead by sophomore
Sheila Best, the team is having great
success. " Sheila is currently ranked in
the top ten in scoring and is doing a
great job as a quiet leader," said coach
Joe Bartlinski. Following her lead are
a great core of freshmen who are
getting the job done.
Practice Makes Perfect For Tonya Lee Lawson

Tonya Lee Lawson, 18-years old,
from Melbourne, Florida, has been
playing soccer for five years. She first
t’ecame interested in soccer when she
was 5-years old. She played a little
then, but there were never any orga
nized teams. So she did not play again
until she started elementary school. But
6ven then they did not have a soccer
team, so she just played for fun.
Then in high school she remembered
how much she enjoyed playing soccer
*nd decided she would try out for the
team. Tonya also ran cross-country so

Tonya also said the advantages of
being on the soccer team are, you are
able to make close friends and you
definitely stay in shape.
Some people might think playing is
easy or soccer is easy and you’re able
to do what you want, but some people
may not realize that the night before
games all the soccer players have a
12:30 curfew. If any of the players get
caught doing something they are not
supposed to be doing, then they have to
r\m 30 MILES around the cornfield.
But all of this practice, hard work,
and dedication has paid off. The wom

Fall Ball ‘95
Taylor Essick

The Tornado baseball team has
shown great promise with a new attitude
early in the fall season. They have
begun the season with two victories in
their two games. The first key hits and
dazzling base-running set the table for
the win. Game number two was not as
easy. The Tornados fell behind early
but showed much poise conference
champion, in defeating North Green
ville.
Head coach Rusty Stroupe seems to
be very optimistic about the season
stating, "1 am very excited about this
team. The guys have an excellent work
ethic and really get after it, like no
other team that I’ve coached here. So
far I am very pleased."
The team had nine returning sopho
mores, from a 31-20, 1994 season and
a second place finish. They are: all
region left fielder. Tab Patton, Jason
Corbell, Cliff Camron, Chad Berriman,
Matt Dalton, Heath Brown, Darren
Ladoucer, Jeremiah Smith, Brandon
Lackey, and junior, Mike English.
Both Tab Patton and Jason Corbell
agreed that, talent-wise, they have
improved from last year and that team
attitude, which will play a key roll ia
their success, is exc^ent.
