Conceding the team’s progress , coach Dave Rinker stated, “The men’s team is right on schedule and is peaking at the right time.” The mens’ team completed the meet at Auburn-with a strong 3rd place finish out of twenty- seven teams. The impressive fact is that they were the only junior college team in the meet. The second meet was the state collegiate. The team, had a fantastic showing, finishing 3rd behind t he ACC’s Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tarheels. The emerging team leaders thus far are Sophomores Bill Baldwin, Chris Pluchos, and Jon McMillion, all of whom are expected to produce well in the upcoming meets. The team will wind up its shortened season hosting the regional meet that they will be favored to win on November 2. The National meet will be on November 11 in Alford, where once again they will be fighting for the National Title. Coach Rinker said that the women’s team has run well but is in need of a good finish at the regionals. They are led by two up and coming freshmen, Sunmier Calder and Jennifer Vrobel. Rinker seems to be optomistic about his team. He looks for a bright furture and yet another successful Brevard Cross Country team.
