Arts & Entertainment Earth Day Sculptures On Display Tuesday, April 30,1996 Angie Clark Art Editor The students in Mr, Murray’s sculpture 302 class went all out for eartli day this year. By installing environmental pieces around the art building, they showed that sculpture can be produced in conjunction with the environment. Although not all of the sculptures have been installed yet, some of the more visable ones are already up. For example, Parker Platt’s multi-canvas piece is located on the side of the art building facing North Broad Street. Kristin Caswell has installed a medicine wheel out of stone down by the creek, and many other students arc placing their work in and around the art building. While most of the sculptures are no! permanent, they can currently be seen on display. Bread and Puppet Schedule Tour Angie Clark Art Editor In August of 1990, in a small Held in Vermont, the advent of a new form ol theater emerged. The new troupe that was formed was known as Bread and Puppet, and what they created was an annual Domestic Resurrection Circus. Bread and Puppet is one of the oldest non-profit theater companies in the country. If fantastical puppets, outdoor performances, and left wing socio political satire are right up your alley, it is a great way to spend an afternoon. The puppets, created by Peter Schumman, reflect almost every human mood or behavior. They dance, sing, laugh, weep, entertain, and distribute homemade garlic bread, which is a tradition Schumman set up. The eight member troupe will be performing an Appalachian Tour. They will be making stops in Burnsville, Knoxville, Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. They will also be stopping in Georgia as well.
