NOVEMBER 30, 2001 POINT OF INTEREST THOUGHTS ON SEPTEMBER 11 -by Maria Fuentes, staff wiiter- America endured a sudden changeon September 11, 2001. This change left Americans fearful of what tomorrow would bring. As people went on with their daily duties, the unexpected hap pened. The World Trade Center was attacked as was the Pentagon in Washing ton, D.C. Americans were taken by surprise and they united and together the country mourns over the tragedy. People all over America are horrified and fearml of what is to come next. As news keeps repeating the tragedy, students at Brevard College feel it as hard as New Yorkers do. At one point, students gathered at the cross between Jones and Beam dorms for a word of prayer. These students prayed over lives lost in the incident and for their families and the families of those involved in the tragedy. Students were not the only ones with change in their hearts, though New York had the biggest change ever. It not only lost two of its major buildings, but it lost many lives of those who made some contribution to the city. Now New York is not the beautiful city that it once was. The streets are covered with sand and remains of what used to be the World Trade Center. All because of terrorism and the people behind it. Students are concerned about what is going to happen next. She.n Lieu said, “I am more worried about the war, but if we Just sit here and not fight back, then we might get more attacks.” Most students are worried about the war and what it is going to bring to the U.S. Ann Adachi, a student, is in opposi tion. She said, “the best resolution to this terrorism attack is to understand other countries’ cultures and view points and we also need to keep negotiating.” It is yet to be known what is going to happen with terrorism. There is but one solution according to President Bush: war. September 11 was the worst ever terror ism attack on the USA, and now there is nothing to be done but to go after those who were involved in the action.
