Along with high school seniors from around the southeast, the roster included six current BC stu dents. Dustin Young, Joel Gerolimatos, Karl Kuester, Sean Flanagan, Dustin Martinelli, and Brett Carpenter have all signed letters of intent for the 2006-2007 season. Young, a 6'3" 235 'lb senior from Waynesville, came to BC to play basketball in 2002. After having played football for 10 years, particularly at slot-back. Young looks to help the Torna dos at nose-guard or defensive end in the fall. “I just want a chance to play the game of foot- ball and help the program,” Young said. Gerolimatos, a 5'9" '185 lb freshman, graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in 1998 where he played under Coach Poss as an outside linebacker. After spending some time as a firefighter and an EMT in Ohio, joining the Naval Reserves, and receiving an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Gerolimatos came to BC this semester and intends to spend his last semes ter of eligibility with the Torna dos in the fall. Gerolimatos’ younger brother, Luke, will join the pro gram next year as well. “Even for just one season the opportu nity to suit up and play along side my little brother on the col lege level is going to be a real ization of a dream 1 have had since high school,” Gerolimatos see Football, page 5 \jiuatt ya tvi fKff Clarion announces senior staff for 2006-2007 z’ '^r\nn oc nunpr rp^iimed nrin The Clarion held senior staff elections on April 18, choosing Adam Beeson as edi tor in chief for the 2006-2007 aca demic year. Beeson, a senior English major from Charlotte, N.C., has served as managing editor of the newspaper for the past three se mesters. This summer, he will serve a newspaper internship for the Hendersonville (N.C.) Times- News. Taking over as managing editor is Matt Rutherford, a se nior English major from Morganton, N.C. Rutherford most recently served three se mesters as the Arts & Life edi tor. He will also act as the paper’s circulation manager next year. He will serve a journalism internship in London this summer working for a cultural magazine. “Adam and Matt are well suited for their elected posi tions,” said Hall Penn, the out going editor, who will graduate this semester with a B.A. in En glish. “1 think they’ll do a great job next year, and 1 wish them the best.” John Billingsley, a senior majoring in photography and environmental journalism from Houston, will serve as photog raphy editor and assistant circu lation manager. Tom Cowan, a senior En glish major from New Orleans, will become news editor. Zack Harding, a junior En glish major from Hendersonville, N.C., will be the Arts & Life edi tor. The assistant Arts & Life editor will be Lange Eve, a se nior art major fi"om Lawrenceville, Ga. Zach Browning, a senior English major from Hendersonville, N.C., will take over as sports editor. Copy editors for 2006-2007 will be Jamie Michaels, a senior majoring in integrated studies from Olathe, Kan., and Emily Wade, a senior English major from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Michaels will also serve as the opinion page editor. Layout editor will be Molly Carlson, a senior arts major from Pittsboro, N.C. Serving as business and advertising manager will be Christina Dennis, a senior En glish major from Greenwood, S.C. Penn, the editor in chief for the past three semesters, said he enjoyed working with the staff and is pleased to see so many old staffers stepping into lead ership positions as well as new staff members taking on jobs with the newspaper.
