Well, here are some scheduled events that you con look forward to; On Friday, the Deity Days competition will be held in the Village quad beginning at 4 p.m. The event wil! feature tug-o-war, eating contests, egg tosses, and more. At 5 p.m, the BC volleyball team will take on Carson Newman in the main Boshamer Gym, To complete the evening, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band will play in the Scott Concert Hall of the Porter Center starting at 7;30p.m. On Saturday, Open Campus Day will be held from 9 a.m until 2 p.m. There will be several sporting events to attend. BC volleyball plays NorthGreenville College at 10 a.m in the main BoshamerGym, and BC football goes up against North Greenville College at 2 p.m at Brevard High School, Also, BC woman’s soccer plays St. Ajidrews College at 2:30 p.m, and BC men’s socccr competes against the same school at 5 p.m. Further activities include an alumni grill-out at the Atumni House from I a.m to 1:30 p.m, a homecoming BBQ dinner in Myers Dininf:' Hall from5:30to 7:30 p.m, and Will Kimbrough concert at Pon' T Center Pavilion from8to9:30::.m. TheEvening will conclude with the first Foam Dance Party, located in the Boshamer parking lot from 9:30 p.m to 12:30 a.m. It will feature a DJ, ; foam pit, and an inflatable slip n’ slide, Sunday will Sf.'e the BC fencing team in the auxiliary gym of Boshamer from 1 until 4 p.m, and the BC W irship Service in the Reserve i)ining Room of Myers from 7 9 p.m. Explosions raise concern on campus, one student arrested by Tom Cowan News Editor Last week, campus security received numerous reports of small explosions occurring on various parts of campus, including the inside of Beam HaM. The explosions caused no injuries or property damage. One student, Mathew Thrialicill, has been arrested in connection to the homemade bombings. Head of Security Stan Jacobson believes the bombs consisted of plastic bottles containing tin foil and a liquid cleaning product, called “the works.” When this mixture is sealed in a pressurized container, an explosive chemical reaction normally occur within minutes. On Sept, 27, a plastic bottle detonated in the main stairwell of West Beam Hall, Apparently, the explosion caused nothing more than a loud noise and a smalt mess. On the following Friday night acd Saturday morning, other outdoor explosions were reported to have occurred near the gym and between the tennis courts and the North Village. On Oct. 2, police arrested BC student Mathew Ttirialkill on three counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly causing the explosions on campus. Ttirialkill was also charged with one count of misdemeanor larceny for stealmg a case of beer from Ingles on Sept. 24. Dean Sue Yowell says that Campus Life initially placed Thrialkill under an interim Primitive bomb found on campus suspension, which was lifted after an Administrative Hearing, where it was decided that TTirialkill is not currently a danger to the campus conjmunily. On Oct 4, a College Hearing Board took place to decide on disciplinary sanctions; the sanctions have not yet l>een released for public record. What's Inside?
