The proposal was the second written motion calling for the impeachment of Motley this semester. On Tuesday, Nov. 14, Josh Rosen, Chief Justice of the Judi cial Board, announced that he had received a written motion calling for impeachment. Rosen said that SGA would hold a special Joint Session on Wednes day at 8:30 p.m., in which the ac cusatory legislator, under Article 6 of the SGA Constitution, would formally make the motion. Article 6, the Impeachment Ar ticle, says that “the official mo tion (for impeachment) must be made during a special Joint Ses sion called by the Chief Justice. The motion must include the iden tification of the Executive Officer accused, along with a brief expla nation of the reasons for the charges.” At 6:56 p.m. on Wednesday, Rosen sent a campus-wide e-mail announcing that the motion had been withdrawn. “As I announced in my e-mail of November 15, 2006,1 have re ceived a written motion,” Rosen said. “The person who submitted the motion has requested that it not be brought forward at this time. Therefore the special ses sion for tonight is cancelled. It is not appropriate or necessary to discuss the matter.” Rosen then read the e-mail at a regularly scheduled SGA Senate Meeting at 7:30 p.m., and the motion was no longer discussed. This was the second written motion for impeachment filed to Rosen this semester. On Aug. 30, Christopher Dimond, member of the House of Club Representatives, made a writ ten and verbal motion to impeach Motley on grounds that he acted in violation of college policy.
