Sports Page 11 BC Pool once in operation Pool continued from page 1 Shortly before being perma nently retired the plumbing had been redone. The filtration sys tem had been worked on and leaks were fixed. The ceiling was also repaired. From the roof, you could see where it was bubbling and bowing. According to Nancy Ballinger, reopening the pool to day would cost roughly $100,000- 200,000. The college relies greatly on donations and as soon as a do nor puts forward money, we can enjoy the benefits of swimming once again. If someone were to donate, it would have to be speci fied only for the purpose of fixing the pool. The Brevard Racquet Club is now the resource used for Brevard College swimming classes. To use club facilities, it costs 30 dollars an hour, which adds up to 800 dollars per class. You cannot prac tice there out of class unless you are a member Senior Katie Berube took Swimming I last semester Berube stated, “I don’t have a car on campus and the commute to the club cut twenty minutes off of a fifty minute class.” Other stu dents have complained the club’s pool stays at a consistent 86-89 Ciarion Stocl Photo degrees making it difficult to swim laps. Because of these reasons, there will probably not be swim ming class next semester Although promised that the pool will reopen this year, it seems that the room is on its way to be coming another weight room. The new football team simply has too many players and cannot fit in the already existing two. Nothing is yet confirmed, so it’s hard to say what direction this once loved ad dition to our gym will move to ward. Unless the funds appear, aerobics it seems will soon give way to weights. Donations any one? The BC pooi today, used for storage. Photo by Katie Berube
