Page 2 Athletes News The Clarion | February 23, 2007 Contrary to popular belief, the money for football scholarships is not leeching funds from campus repairs. Repair money is already accounted into the funds. Any other finances going to support the new sports team have been dona tions. There is no extra money going to the team. If anything, it is and will be bringing in funds that will benefit the college. As for the behavior conducted by the athletes. President Van Horn urges the student body to not judge 90 players by the ac tions of a few. Statistically, the team’s cumulative GPA is rather high. The players are briefed be fore enrolling at Brevard that they must be open minded and respect ful to a liberal arts college. Editor's Note: The point here is, that it's better to hear the information from the horse's mouth rather than assume. Irritated stu dents tend to bend the truth as they see fit. If you are truly interested in a topic, a little research goes a long way. The answers are always there, it just takes a little effort to find them. If you want to see a pool, find donations. If you've got ideas on what else should be done, let your voice be heard. Take initiative.
