Email clarion@brevard.edu Volleyball Tournament takes off this weekend by Amethyst Green Sports Editor The Volleyball Co-ed Tourna ment will be this weekend Satur day, March 24'*' and will start at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a play offs and a fmal game. In pool play the format is two games with 25 points, win by two, no cap, and with a 40 minute time limit. Also, each team will play round robin in their pool. Between matches there will be a 4 minute warm-up. Anytime we are ahead the matches will move up. If you have any questions re garding the tournament you can contact Coach Skeffington and/or Jessica Whitmire. The tournament directors will be Jessica Whitmire, Brenda Skeffington, and myself The games will be played at the Transylvania Rec Center, Boshamer Gym, and the auxiliary gym (Brevard College). There are play-offs that begin at 4 p.m. It goes in order quarterfinals and semi-finals at 5 p.m., and then fi nals at 6 p.m. There will be 4 pools and pools A and C will play at Brevard Col lege, and the pools B and D will play at the Transylvania Rec Cen ter Some of our very own will be participating in the tournament so come out and watch. It will be very interesting and fun to come out and enjoy the spectacle. BC Softball takes a fall by Amethyst Green Sports Editor In game one against Carson- Newman, Brevard took a fall, los ing 8-0. The game had been post poned from Saturday, March 17'*' to Monday March IQ'**. The teams played 5 innings. Brevard had 4 errors and gave up 13 hits. Rachel Howard col lected three strike-outs for BC in the 4 innings she pitched, but she will pick up the loss. Kristina Clayton and Katie Brown had a good day offensively going 1-2. For Carson-Newman College, Katie Speaks and Hillary Hammond both had a perfect day going 3-3. Pitcher Stephanie Templeton pitched all 5 innings only giving up 2 hits, and she also had 6 strikeouts against 18 bat ters. In game two against Carson- Newman, BC still came short los ing 9-1 after a 4 run homerun. Stephanie Templeton had the homerun for the Eagles. This just proved to be too significant for the Tornados. Rachel Howard will record the loss; Jessie Armstrong will record the win for the Eagles. They are scheduled to play at home again on March 28'*' at 2:00 against Milligan College. Their next game is away at Catawba College, March 22"‘‘, at 2:00 p.m. The Clarion wishes the girls a safe trip and good luck with the rest of their season!
