April 6, 2007 I The Clarion Sports Page 11 Opening day of fish ing season approaclies by John Billingsley Photographer For the past several months, most of the rivers of Transylvania County have been closed due to delayed harvests. Delayed Har vest is when they close a river, stock it and re-open for catch and release only. They stock every month - one day a month. The opening seasons for general wa ters are the first Saturday in April. That means the North Fork of the French Broad, the Lower Davison River, the West Fork of the French Broad, North Mills River in Hendersonville County and the French Broad will be open to catch and keep on the first Saturday in April (the V**"). The East Fork will remain Delayed Harvest until the first Saturday in June. This means that the East Fork will remain catch and release until June. I hope to see a lot of you out there on the river catching your limit in just a few minutes and having a big ol Texas fish try for Easter break. But I wont be able to join you all this time. Ill be in Texas in a bass tour nament with my family enjoying the comforts of home in 98 degree weather Hopefully 111 catch a couple bass and make it on the front page of the newspaper and also on ESPN. Keep it safe out there and have fun. Gators take home second consecutive NCAA Championship by Amethyst Green Sports Editor The NCAA Championship ended this week.
