April 6, 2007 \ The Clarion OPINION Page 7 Staff Editorial; Things to do in Brevard by Josie Guinn Opinion Editor It has recently come to my at tention that members of the stu dent body here are bored out of their skulls. They’re not entirely sure what to do off campus, and complain about the lack of things to do here in Brevard. As a Brevard native, I can as sure you that there actually is quite a bit of stuff to do in town ^ and in the surrounding area. If you have time between classes during the day, trying going to some of the shops and see what they offer. Various places offer some amazing little knick-knacks that won’t break your budget, but are some thing fun and exciting that you may only be able to find here in Brevard. If you’re like me, and you don’t get out of classes most days until after 6, you might be surprised that there are still a few activities to do even after the shops close down. There are several restaurants in town, all with varying price ranges, and all have an open and friendly atmosphere where a person can go and relax and hang out with some friends. While the movie theater may not show some of the biggest movies, it is still there, and has a 7 o’clock show every night of the week. They also have really good prices; if you show your student ID, you get a dollar off your ticket price, not to mention the fact that nothing in concession costs over $3.00. If you’re not much for walking around and window shopping, you can also try going for a hike. We are located next to a national forest, after all. And if you’re like me, and don’t have a motorized form of transportation, Franklin Park is around a ten minute walk from here. It’s a great place to go and relax, with lots of trees surrounding it and giving lots of shade. There are also plenty of swings if you feel like letting your inner child out for a while. So, before you go and complain that there’s absolutely nothing to do in Brevard, take the time to look around. You never know what kind of fun thing you might discover Just a note.
