Page 4 NEWS Clarion | Oct. 19, 2007 Board of Trustees hass fall meeting at BC by Rhea Frederick Copy Editor Last Thurs, Oct. 11, the Board of Trustees, the ladies and gentlemen who make it possible for us to go to Brevard College, came together and dined in the Porter Center They were celebrating Johnnie H. Jones’ immense contributions to the college. Mr. Jones has been contributing money to the college for years now and is the reason why Jones Hall and Jones Library are in existence. “Mr Jones has been there in every step of the way and has guided me in making many important decisions,” President Van Horn announced at the dinner Wednesday night. “He gives me his honest opinion.” Mr Jones has been a very important part in the growth and development of this college by contributing both his knowledge and wealth. Not only was it his night to shine, but it was also his night to shine in front of the whole Board of Trustees. Board members came from all over South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee to witness Mr Jones’ recognition of outstanding contribution. Vice President Nelson had also asked several students to join them at the dinner, so they could converse with the people who have supported them financially during their college career “It was a great opportunity to be able to talk with alumni about their experience at the college and see what they are doing now,” commented Nina Willis, one of the students that joined the trustees Thursday night. “They were all doing amazing things and helping our community to grow.” The students not only were able to join the trustees for dinner, but they also had the chance to engage in celebrating Mr. Jones’ recognition with the trustees. It is important for the students of Brevard College to be knowledgeable of their campus’ history, and Mr Jones, along with the trustees, have been a large part of that.
