All correspondence should be mailed to: The Clarion, Brevard College, One Brevard College Drive, Brevard, NC 28712 Thank you SGA by Ben Goff News Editor In the four years that I have been a member of SGA I have seen quite a diverse offering of leaders. We have had Executive Board members who were not willing to do what was asked of them or were simply not qualified for the position and at least one who deserved impeachment. This year, however, we have been fortunate to have quite possibly the brightest and most active Executive Board yet. They are dedicated and responsible, taking the initiative on projects and performing their duties admirably. SGA stands for Student Government Association, and I think we have been guilty in the past of not living up to what that name means, but this year SGA has blossomed into a powerful avenue for accomplishing meaningful goals. SGA is for Students, and by Students. It is student initiative and leadership that makes it work and it is the student’s interests and concerns that SGA represents. SGA is legitimate Government, with the power to accomplish things that will be of direct benefit to students and the campus as a whole. SGA is also the unified voice of the students to bring concerns to the administration, and has the ability to influence important decisions. SGA is an Association that cannot function without participation, dedication, and collaboration. The leadership, teamwork, and initiative of our current SGA group are outstanding, and I think that these are the right ingredients for accomphshing goals that will greatly benefit the college. We should all thank our SGA members for all the hard work they do for us- especially our executive board: President Beth Brooker, Vice President Travis Wireback, Secretary Nicole Anderson, Treasurer Aaron Baker, Speaker of the House Jason Martin and Campus Activities Board (CAB) President Merek Slagle.
