December 5, 2008 | The Clarion Life Page 7 Two perspectives on Twilight The number one movie in the country is Twilight, a film based on the adolescent book series. The film doesn't appeal to all audiences, however, and so we have decided to give reviews from two separate approaches, one female and one male. by Dabney Farmer Staff Writer Definitely a girl vampire movie. Many boys were disappointed this was a vampire movie with no gore, and only one big fight scene. Naturally girls just like followingon the love story part between young vampire hunk, Robert Patterson playing Edward, and Kristen Stewart as Bella Robert Patterson was first seen on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The makeup looks a little overdone but other than that everyone looks good. Twilight lias talen in 119.7 miiiion doiiars so far and the booi series occupies 8 of the top ten spots on Amazon's top seiiers iist. by Joseph Chilton Editor-in-Chief All I really need to say about this movie is that it's about vampires who, instead of dying when sunlight hits them, miraculously sparkle. That should dissuade you from going to see it right there. Fanged villains should shrivel with the agony of death when hit by the sun, not become a living disco ball. And then there's the whole concept of good vampires versus bad vampires, which is ludicrous. The "good" vampires supposedly live off of animal blood, which anyone who has ever seen seen an animal being eaten raw will admit is pretty evil too. I'm going to join PETA just so I can boycott this piece of crap. My brother (who liked it, but also plays Dungeons and Dragons, if that tells you anything) tells me that what sets this movie apart is that it's a vampire love story. Well I hate to break it to you, but vampires don't have functioning organs, which includes their heart. Therefore they can't fall in love. So there. This movie actually makes me wish I was a vampire. Not because I want to sparkle, though that is tempting, but so that my organs wouldn't work either That way I wouldn't have to worry about liver failure or cirrhosis when consuming the copious amounts of alcohol that it's going to take to drink away the pain of realizing that I live in a country where this is the most popular movie in the land.
