Last Saturday, the Lady Tornados swept
the Converse, 8-1, while Brevard College’s
guys and girls both defeat North Georgia
Tuesday. The BC women improve to 8-2
and the BC men to4-5.
The tornados faced no threat against
Converse, winning all three doubles, and
losing only one of their singles matches.
Last Saturday was a beautiful day, but it
didn’t reflect Converse’s capabflity to win.
They didn’t seem to stand a chance against
our Lady Tornados from the start.
The women’s team displayed confidence
in their game and precision in their
techniques, easily out maneuvering
Converse on the court. Claire Dillman
played a confident slicing game to cut her
singles opponent down.
On Tuesday, Kim Dixon secured BC’s
win over North Georgia by winning her
No. 4 singles match 6-4, 7-5, while Kaley
Duval and Jennifer Nyman won the only
doubles victory. This helped them obtain
their 8th straight win and a regional victory
as weU.
BC’s men were just as successful against
North Georgia earlier this week. Dorian
Feron’s victory at the 6 spot in the lineup
was vital to securing a 6-5 win in the men’s
match against North Georgia. Cole Altizer
and Jared Fisher won the only doubles
match while playing second in the lineup.
BC’s men also played great tennis
in their win against North Georgia. By
receiving their third straight win, the guys
improved to 4-5. According to Altizer, he
played a “textbook” match for his doubles.
He also dominated his singles opponent
with finesse, at one point even flying
through the air Feron’s win showcased the
ability of our tennis team to pull out a win,
after he clinched the match with a three set
victory, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, over his opponent
Parker Lasure.
Other highlights were Ellie
Bartholomew’s 6-1,6-3, exhibition-victory,
winning her first collegiate game in straight
sets. Brevard’s tennis team thus remains
successful in defending our home turf in the
South Atlantic Conference, by dismissing
both North Georgia and Converse.
