Page 4 The Clarion | April 2, 2010 News Voter's guide to the 2010 SGA Elections Meagan Crowson Hi! My name is Meagan Crowson, I am a Junior Health Science Studies Major for Pre-medicine. I am running for the office of SGA President. I am passionate about volunteering and helping those in need in any way possible, whether it is as a part of a team of volunteers for the MLK Challenge or as an individual tutoring elementary school kids. I believe in becoming a responsible steward of the environment by using our resources responsibly and education. I think it is important that everyone be given an opportunity to succeed at whatever they want. I am enthusiastic, responsible, reliable, and ready to work! I want to become SGA president because I believe it will be an incredible opportunity to be a voice for the student body, bring greater awareness to the issues that students feel are important, and work to make Brevard College a better place to leam, serve, and have fun. Lucy Matthews Hola Amigos! I am running for Student Government President for the 2010-2011 school year Many of you know me as the short girl with the big smile, a Spanish speaker, or jazz band member, but I hope you all know me as someone passionate about community, and Brevard College, but most importantly, doing what is right. I complete my sophomore year at BC this spring, as an Elementary Education Major and a Spanish Minor, with a love for teaching and working with people from all walks of life. During my first two years here at Brevard I have enjoyed being involved in several leadership roles, including President of our new Spanish Club, IWIL Member, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Member, and SGA Club Representative and Senator for the Sophomore Class. Each of these roles has challenged me and helped me grow as a leader and a member of our Brevard Community and allowed me to get to know many of you! In such a diverse community, finding common ground is often our weak point. However, through SGA I see the potential for beginning to close those gaps, as we have this year, by bringing our students together This happens through support of all clubs and organizations by our student body as a whole, and I look forward to promoting and fully supporting increased involvement in events that span environmental issues, outdoor activities and events, student diversity, service, music, art, theater, and athletics- by supporting you in what you love to do. I am running for position of Student Government President with the desire to continue the gains made by SGA, further refine the process, and overcome the problem areas of the organization. I look forward to strengthening out relationship with the President and the staff and faculty of our college, and with each other I would count it a great privilege to represent the Student Body as President for the 2010-2011 school year Ashley Fortune My name is Ashley Fortune and I am running for Vice President of SGA. I am a Political Communications Major graduating in May 2011.1 have previously served in SGA as a Senator, and currently am Treasurer of SGA on the Exec Board. I have experienced BC as both a 2- year and a 4- year institution. I have been on this campus as both a freshman and a senior, a traditional and non-traditional student, a commuter and non-commuter In those and many other ways, I bring a balance to SGA between all aspects of student life, experience and ideas, and believe in serving as an example for all students to become more involved in our school community. Jen Nyman My name is Jennifer Nyman and I am running for Vice President of SGA. I feel I am qualified for this position because I have been an active member of the SGA for the past two years by being a club representative and a senator I am an organized person and can facilitate meetings accordingly. I would really enjoy this position and appreciate your vote! Darrell Neely My name is Darrell Neely. I am a junior majoring in Business and Organizational Leadership. I am a tall, chocolate man but that is neither here nor there so let me get back to the point. I am running for speaker of the clubs because I have been a club representative for two years, and feel that I would have something to offer if I am allowed to perform this job. Thank you for your time and may God’s love bless and keep you. ■ ■■ -1^ ■ ^ di
