'Q&A' from page 1 academic programs, and see us through the recent Southern Association reaffirmation. I admire John and want him to receive the credit for what we have been able to do to improve our academic focus. Deborah Hall, our VP for Business and Finance, is a wonderful finance person. She has navigated this college through the current financial storm and is perhaps the brightest financial person I have known. While she is tough, she is also one of the most generous people I have known. Any college in America would be fortunate to have either of these two people. They have made this college better I would name countless others, but I will do that in another venue. Where do you see BC in the next five to ten years? Our college has a great history and I believe a great foundation. The college must focus on retiring the debt on the performing arts center This is the key, I believe, to insuring our future financial stability. I believe that the college has the administrative team, faculty and staff to reach our goal of 850 students within the next five to six years. While I was not able to get us to an enrollment of 1,000 students, I believe that the College will be there in the next ten years. What’s next for you? Do you have any plans on where you will be taking your career? Would you like to stay working in higher education? I am looking into a number of opportunities which have been presented to me. I definitely want to stay in higher education. There is nothing that I would rather do than help young people prepare to lead our country and our world. Besides, all of you keep me young. What single piece of advice would you give to the next president of Brevard College? Love the students, respect the faculty and staff, and retire the debt on the performing arts center I want to thank this College for allowing me to be part of its history. I am not a perfect person, but I hope that I have helped this institution in some way. I have always poured my heart and soul into whatever I have done. I encourage the Board of Trustees to value what has been entrusted to them. This place is not the buildings; it is the people and what happens to young lives in and out of the buildings. I encourage the faculty to continue in their mission. We could never afford to pay you what you are worth to the lives that you touch. I encourage the staff to continue to be caring and innovative. You are the glue that holds this place together To the students, please go and make a difference in this world. We will help you, but you will have to do better than we have done in making this world a better place. That is a tough assignment, but I guess that might be one reason we all want to be part of your lives.
