Earth Day celebrated at BC
By Jordan Tager
Staff Writer
Earth day is rapidly approaching and in honor
of this national day Brevard College is hosting
Earth-Fest this Saturday April 16 from 12 to 6
p.m. at the Porter Center Amphitheater
The celebration will be full of environmental
awareness, local music, great food, and many
other earth day activities. The festivities include
live performances by four bands; Ethos, Uncle
Mountain, Common Foundation, and Soulgrass
Rebellion.
“1 am excited to see grass-roots band Uncle
Mountain perform, they are a really great local
group that have a lot of support in this area,”
said student Shane Shelton.
Along with the great music being performed.
six different informational booths will be set up
to teach people the importance of environmental
awareness, showing how we can all make a
difference in our work towards keeping our earth
clean and green.
Booths will be run by the Sierra Club, BC
Greens, Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue, Our
Farm at Richland Creek, Muddy Sneakers,
Earthshine, and PHAT.
There are going to be other activities such as
a kids craft and game area, live animals from
the Earthshine Nature Program, and a Swap
Shop, where you can bring your stuff and swap
it with others for free. Earth-Fest is sure to be a
fun day of learning about important ecological
issues, so if you’re looking for something to
do this Saturday on campus come on out and
take part.
